Wow, this thread got sidetracked fast. I would say NTM is also pretty sick (French rap group), ask you collegues about them GB!

No order - Lupe Fiasco, Jay-Z, Nas, Royce da 5’9, Common, Tupac, Joe Budden, Nas, definately Talib Kwelli.

this has already been discussed at length and the consensus was that Vanilla Ice topped the list, rivaled only by the canadian sensation Snow. case closed

FYI for those willing to experience some hardcore underground gangsta rap from germany - search in youtube Joe Rilla with “Der Osten Rollt”. those are some brutal rhymes in your face, extracted from the socioeconomic divide between East and West Berlin in present days, much in the spirit of NWA’s early days. it does not really carry a neo-nazzi message despite the appearance though

Whats up man! hey yo whats up! Yeah whats goin on here. Sick an tired of five-oh runnin up on the block here. You know what Im sayin? Yo snow, they came around here lookin for you the other day. I do not like rap, but Dr. Dre’s “Chronic 2001” was one of the best album’s of all time.

I really do not like rap that much, but Dr. Dre’s “keep their heads ringing” is a classic

Sticking with the theme then … I was in a big rap phase back in the day: Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, 2Pac, Naughty By Nature, Master P, Nortorious BIG, Cam’Ron, Wu-Tang Clan, Mobb Deep, Jay-Z, Big Pun, Bone Thugs N Harmony and DMX My first ever rap cd was Snoop’s DoggyStyle. I remember the fold out comic strip devirginized my eyes … lol

I think my first rap album was either the Fugees with the Score or a Tribe Called Quest with Beats, Rhymes and Life.

I have to agree…the original Chronic was great. I also liked BDP, Public Enemy, Eric B & Rakim, NWA, Snoop (his old stuff), Special Ed, EPMD, etc. I can’t stand newer rap though.

the old rap was raw and gangsta, came from the heart and carried a social message despite its brutality. when these rappers grew up and got some cash, they started acting as old pimps and rhyming about jacuzzis, limos and VIP dance clubs. lame wankstas

Gang Starr, the Roots, Common.

When this started happening it was time to move on …
