CFAilure, are you that guy who tried to pass Level 2 seven times?
Unfortunately I have very little motivation to study when there is plenty of time ahead and have real difficulty trying to study before/during/after work given my long working hours. I managed to pass level I with 150 hours (perhaps luckily, who knows) and upped to 190 for level II (mostly in May). The exam went better than I expected as I almost solely did question practice and just focused on learning/debriefing myself/recognising the different skills formulas needed etc. I wish I had read more but still think I have a chance of passing even though a couple of questions left me clueless! There is simply no substitute for question practice in my opinion though, over-reading is completely unecessary.
I think the number of hours is more or less irrelvant. It’s the quality of the the study time that matters, not how many absolute hours you put in. You’ll see people who pass and fail with all kinds of different study hour totals.
I don’t think I’ve ever reviewed what I read, just did bunch of mocks the week before the exam and felt fine. Don’t think taking 300-400 hrs reading the material is all that helpful, definitely do not recommend reading the curriculum.
You’ll most likely recognize alot of the stuff you see on the mocks and if do enough mocks you’ll be able to connect what you see and formulas pretty easily after a while.
The big assumption is having a solid background - academically or professionally.
I had neither and 300 hours is barely enough to do the readings once for me.
