Revisiting this thread… and I agree with this advice. I sold AEO today ($14.00). It was a bargain in my eyes back then but as it has moved up and i have learned more… it’s just not the sector for me to be in long-term, with my limited time and knowledge to understand and keep up with the drivers. It it jumps on earnings, I’ll feel a little bad but if I held I would have been speculating.
Lol.
Really? Where are all of these divorcees in Catholic school girl uniforms?
I like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch, I’d take her if I had one wish, But she’s been gone since that summer… Since that summer
Bump, what’s going on here? Revs and store counts dropping… are these guys going to pull out of their slump?
In a word, nope
waiting it out… if it misses Q4 and still has a decent cash balance, I may go in, just doesn’t look like a steal to me.
being bearish on ANF forever, this thing is not turning around all you have to do is ask around, nobody is buying their stuff except tourists.
I want to say it won’t turn around, but in the back of my head as a casual observer I’m always reminded that people underestimate the ability of old fashion styles to cycle back around.
I disagree. They got new designers (one was the head of menswear from JCrew) and their clothes have been looking a lot better than the heavily branded douchey stuff they had before. Their clothes are actually well made. It’ll take a few seasons, but the new design will translate to better sales
Hollister is where it’s at. I’m wearing a pink hoodie with “Hollister” across my chest, and cotton shorts with “Juicy” across my ass.
Business casual FTW.
I don’t know. To the mind of young hipster millennials, all of these are yesterday’s brands. People now want to wear “athleisure” like Lululemon or Patagonia to show their diverse and active lifestyle. If not that, then Giant hoodie or Bonobos that they saw on the internets. I would have said well, the Chinese really like American 1990s brands like Abercrombie, but now strong USD is crushing their revenue.
I don’t know if any of this is reflected in the stock, so maybe it is still cheap. However, the business outlook to me, is not great. At the very least, I would say they need to buy some other brands and sell products that people don’t know come from that company.
This is my layman’s opinion anyway.
