AFter the Offer

Hello AF, Hypothetically speaking, After a firm has made you an offer, What are some questions to ask to ensure you are not getting screwed?

Assuming you are the last one in, are you the first one out? LIFO?

what? assuming you are the only one

If you find the offer decent, still negotiate. Others may have different opinion but I think negotiating always increases your credibility. Also have enough stats to support your demand.

a. There is a generally a salary range… so try to work towards the upper part of the range. b. make sure the band on the targetted bonus is narrow. c. make sure you are eligible for the bonus…some companies will not give you the bonus if you join after a certain time period (maybe 4th quarter) or give you a pro rated bonus. d. if you are leaving a job that provides a bonus and that has not been distributed, try to get a sign on bonus with limited “clawback” provisions.
