We sound like we have similar backgrounds. I work at a bank as a .NET developer of a sales tool (used by sales and client services) for allocations and settlements and I am trying to make a similar switch to the investment side. I’m thinking of looking internally first and then else where. How did you do it?
If i would want to switch to finance, i would probably went ahead and got some back office job. That should be easy enough. After that, if you are smart and ambitious, it is not going to be long before you are in middle office or front office.
BUT
There is only a handlul of Trader/PMs out there and competition is tough. VERY tough
