I am subscribed to the Economist and the WSJ. I prefer the WSJ - daily newspaper and online material provides a wealth of knowledge and news (way more timely as well). I know it wasn’t the question asked, but I guess it depends what you’re trying to get out of it.
Economist is based in UK, so you get a much more global perspective. Although, for me, the articles are too story like.
The Economist should be renamed “The Politician”. I used to read it, but I got tired of hearing criticism of the minority party in the lower house of parliament in Zimbabwe. Who cares?
And Barron’s seems to be only geared toward the “flavor-of-the-month” mutual funds and other packages. Unless you like to actively trade packaged securities, I wouldn’t bother. It offers no insight into economic trends and developments, corporate finance, or national-international news.
My favorite publications? I subscribe to the WSJ, my local paper, and Kiplinger’s magazine. If I could pick another magazine to read, it would probably be Business Week.
^ Yes, we have seen it (or at least one of it’s varients). It’s a China based page designed to simulate traffic and grab ad revenue. Anyhow, doesn’t really impact us too much directly, but it is funny to peak into bizzaro world and see our mirror screen names and pictures.
Bchad’s being modest. He has seen every page on the internet.
