not really. the trick is the stores only have several of the really awesome stuff that is discounted, and hope that you see something else you like and buy that.

big ticket items. i juss buy it online. no lines. no nonsense. and i can research the crap out of it. i got like a $530 laptop for $330. literally 40% off. I’ve never lined up a day before to get something, but i do browse around with friends for the heck of it for the smaller ticket items that are prolly larger margins. 40 inch vizio tv anyone?
Bump. Post your stories or videos. I need a good laugh and Black Friday usually supplies them, if you know where to look.
My friend claims he is a Verizon FIOS customer and got some rebate coupons of upto 8500$ for upgrading his data plan and moving to Iphone 6+.
He posted a photo of 6 phones and Bose speaker and couple of other items. I was shocked beyond words if he has really got them for Black friday. He seems extremely happy
Went outdoors for a bike ride on a trail that is usually packed with people. Not a person in sight. Didn’t step into a store all day. Was awesome.

bought for 170 this morning. will prolly receive when i get home from work.
i bought this today.
way better deal in canada. this is basically the first time ever you will see a much cheaper price for a U.S. product in Canada. USD equivalent price on Amazon Canada is $338 versus a best price of US$369 in the states.

kind of pumped to see how it works. i’ve got 3 kids so yeah. robot vacuums are welcome.
I’ve seen one in action - their use is limited to hardwood and light dusting. Really wouldn’t count on it unless thats exactly the service you’re looking for.
I ended up buying some dress clothes (no short sleeved button downs, sorry greenie), and saw blades.
Decent crowds out but there weren’t many good deals to be had.
I have a Roomba and it is a good time saver if you have a lot of floor. It works fine on carpet, as well as hardwood or hard surfaces. I have cats and they don’t seem to mind it. However, they do not ride the Roomba like in those Youtube videos. In fact, 85% of the Roomba’s collections is comprised of cat fur.
My criticisms are that the Roomba requires your floor to be mostly free of objects and obstructions. The time I spend clearing a path for the Roomba could have been spent cleaning the floor myself. Furthermore, the Roomba uses a bumper to detect walls, unlike some other products which sense walls using infrared beams. So, over time, the Roomba might cause scuff marks on your walls.
Overall it is an ok product. Would buy again.
rip cvm
We don’t engage in holiday shopping. If you can make 8% return per year, each $1 becomes $10, in 30 years.
CAGR for X-mas.
do u have any fun in life?
A friend had one of these. Really cool, but it couldn’t go from the tile to the carpet very well. Plus, our living room is so big, it ran out of battery before it could do the whole room.
If I had to pick between the Roomba and the other thing (the name of which I can’t remember), I’d get the other thing.
Edit - Neato XV. That’s the name of the other thing.
My ex and I tried a Roomba and also a Scooba (which supposedly mops tiles).
Neat idea, but we never could get it to work very well. It would always get stuck on something, and the Scooba would occasionally barf dirty-blue fluid all over the place. We ultimately gave up on them and went back to the old manual way.
Still, it was interesting to watch it run around and try to do its job. The noise frightened the cat.
I wonder if it’s gotten any better in the nearly 10 years since.
My family also has a vacuum robot. I am disappointed at how loud it is.
yeah, if fails to clean well, i think i’ll at least get my value out of it through novelty. i’m thinking it will have a hard time with the main floor (a small space with couches, chairs, tv stands, kitchen table, kitchen chairs) and the bedroom floor (long with lots of doors) but might be okay for the kids’ basement (don’t really care what gets sucked up there) and the loft (wide open space with few obstacles).
i’m hoping the technology is somewhat improved from 10 years ago. apparently the room-to-room navigation is improved but we’ll see.
Did getting a robot vacuum cleaner free-up time for the maid to clean other things?
Bump.
Once again, I went to the zoo on Black Friday. I was nowhere near any retail stores.
One of these days, though, I want to go to a Black Friday sale at a big box retailer. I don’t actually want to participate, but I just want to be a fly on the wall and watch the crowd. I want to see one of these things with my own eyes.
