turkish, to me, “value” is just a popular term. there really isn’t a distinction between Value and Growth. sound investing is a blend of both. buying great businesses at reasonable prices involves a measurement of growth. However, excessive forecasting or speculating on growth is entirely different. I don’t believe in cigar butts either though. for instance, RIM at today’s prices is speculative. RIM at 20 dollars is not. However, i still won’t buy RIM at 20 dollars. ever since I read graham/buffet etc. I was hooked. at this moment, i can’t see how anybody can invest by any other means. i think ValueAddict understands what I am saying here.

Turkish, I’m just being a little light-hearted here, but my opinion is synonomous with Frank’s.
if someone doesn’t truly know, they will think value and growth are opposites. Turkish, when you’re looking at a stock to buy, what do you look for? lets take a look at a company you’re looking to buy, and lets work out a conclusion.
Holy fuck! A whole 4 page thread on Genevieve! Hilarious! I’ve met her once at a luncheon. Lets just say, the camera, lighting, studio make up elevates a 5 to a 7. As for her knowing her stuff? Haha. She majored in some neuroscience crap. Couldn’t find a decent paying job so daddy hired her. The questions are given to majority of the guests a day before going on air. Plus, her views on copper and china were much pretty being spewed from one of the ‘famous’ sell side report of one of the big five here. Didn’t read the whole thread, but you guys need to pay less heed to crap like this on BNN. BNN is only good when O’leary and Amanda go at it. Good list of the canadian value managers. Missing a few gems like O’Shaughnessy and couple from AIC.
