Bonus Season

Yes, that is what I was getting at. Even when I saw the amount in my bank account as a “pending deposit” that was good enough, though candidly why not wait an extra day to have total peace of mind. I have also never seen a firm claw back money once it has hit the bank account of the employee. I don’t know how they would even do that.

Whether the firm can claw back compensation depends on the employment contract. These can vary and typically become more complex as seniority within the organization increases. It can also depend on the business environment. There is legal machinery in place to retrieve employee compensation in certain circumstances; however, the amount of compensation either has to be sufficient to justify the legal expense or (more commonly) the company has to want to send a message that if an employee acts in XYZ manner then there will be consequences. I always waited until the money hit my account and have never experienced any issues. However, if I was poaching clients or moving into substantially the same market then that may not have been the case. I believe many non-competes specifically state when an employee/owner may expect to have compensation forfeited or retreived.

It’s rude to assume gender Igor…or species for that matter.

Didn’t CVM coin the phrase “bonus bounce”?

If not, I’m trademarking it.
