Book 6 Scores

1AM - 81.67% (49/60) 1PM - 83.33% (50/60) 2AM - 70.00% (42/60) 2PM - 78.33% (47/60) 3AM - 81.67% (49/60) I originally failed 2AM but Schweser revised one of their answers so I’m borderline pass now. I haven’t really timed myself, but it seems like I’m really pushing the 3 hour limit on these. It should be different on exam day because if I don’t know something I’ll just move on. But during the practice tests I’ve had a few Vignettes where I took 45+ minutes on. Granted, some of them are because Schweser forgot to include information and I didn’t have the errata ready, like the real estate portion of 3AM.

damn…good job…you’re through !

SanFranMatt: That’s not borderline pass. Those are solid scores.

if it wasn’t 2 weeks from the test i think i would quit. book 6 1am: 60 1pm:72 2am: 67 2pm: 75 3am: 65 i mean. seriously. i have to take a walk.

Did you check the errata on that one? I heard there are some problems with test 3.

^ those aren’t bad scores at all! cfasf1, i feel like our scores are very similar- i hope both of us make it come pass time. walk it out, get some coffee, let’s push on. I just walked and got an iced latte- afternoon session of study about to begin. i’m going to do an equity review, little qbank, lots of fun. ok, maybe not that much fun. 3AM i thought was way harder than either of the 2AM/PM tests. i’ve heard 3PM isn’t easy either… so you just relax and get up back on that horse.

mwvt, errata or not it was a poor performance… pretty disappointing. i just got absolutely slaughtered on real estate. so i’ll review that. bannis, thanks again for the positivity. i do appreciate it. i felt like our scores were pretty similar as well , but didn’t say anything because i didn’t want to offend you. but you pulled away on this one! the fact is i’m going to have to accept the fact i won’t be hitting mid 80’s on practice exams and am going to have to fight tooth and naill for every point to have a chance at passing. i feel very borderline and i think that’s what’s driving me crazy. Back on the horse. last 2 weeks. let’s do it.

3 pm was def rough. 1am 63 1pm 68 2am 65 2pm 70 3am 65 3pm 62 gotta push it for 2 weeks, can’t seem to crack that magically 70 barrier, her’s to breaking it on volume 2!

I’m getting killed on the small stuff which is adding up: quant, econ, bonds and derivatives What are you guys finding the most difficult?

people at work have been IMPLORING ME to take some practice exams, so i did. and boy, were they ever right? i think it will motivate me alot. i wish i’d done this maybe 2 weeks ago, so if you haven’t done any yet, i think you should. just took my first timed test today… exam 3 from book 6… 66% in morning… those real estate and capital budgeting questions absolutely killled me (actually i think maybe my score on real estate was ok, but i was lost). poor ethics too. misread two fixed income questions too (realize this will happen on exam too, but will really focus on it)…forgot to time myself, but my feel was that it was somewhat tight (although only because i looked at those 2 Q’s for a long time)… 75% in the afternoon… very, very easy on the time. some pretty easy sections. but i got 1 out of 6 for FRA’s, interest rate caps, interest rate options. i had to look at the answer key about 5 times to make sure that was correct because i felt good about my answers. i think i may be all screwed up on who’s long and who’s short… anyhow, i’m going to do one more full exam tonight. probably fairly quickly not 100% focussed on score… so i did 71% overall, with i’d say easy chance for 4-5% higher and than i could probably fix alot more (although then you get into the whole issue of so many subjects, and you correct real estate, but something else is deficient)… my last thought. best reason for taking practice exams is that i figured i could figure out real estate and capital budgeting on the fly (capital budgeting = common sense… but no such luck. seemed like a ton of info was missing, or i was supposed to derive it… but these Q’s seemed way too complex for an exam like this)

btw, treynor black has some Q’s where i scratched my head, but i think i did 4 or 5 out of 6. BTW, probably the question i hated the most when i saw it was the FSA synthesis, but it was simple.

is it just me or the book 6 seems a lot simpler than the CFAI sample exams? i am doing ok (60-70ish) in book 6 but getting crushed on sample exams

Ok, book 6 done (need to review 3PM after a nice long break). 1AM 70 1PM 72 2AM 70 2PM 75 3AM 70 3PM 65 3PM thoughts before i dive in for a review: I just got ROCKED in quant (2/6) and also had a 2/6’er in equity on the stupid ADR/ETF/px driven order driven random stuff. That quant vignette not pretty. TB I thought i’d do worse than i did… need to review, that was a good practice vignette. ethics i can’t get out of a 3/6 rut. will continue to practice/read today- i need better scores in ethics. derivs i did surprisingly ok on here (9/12). this was def a tough one though.

Doesn’t look too bad Bannisja, I am scoring my 1pm later today after initially scoring 53% on the am section a week or three ago.

Omg… 57% on the PM section. Decent scores for Ethics, Quant and Corporate Finance… The rest is horrible. Nice two weeks ahead of me now… damn.

staygold, I would say its the opposite. I think the CFAI exams are easier.

bannis, great score! above 70 in all but 1. you should feel good about it.

1am: 80% 1pm: 70% 2am: 58.33% 2pm: 78.33% Too much volatility (21.48279) … I missed some really easy ones in the 2am and it is really alarming…

Final Scores for Book 6: 1AM - 83% 1PM - 68% 2AM - 75% 2PM - 82% 3AM - 73% 3PM - 72% Avg. - 75.5% Disregarding those two 80%+ exams, I am too borderline. I thought I did better on the 3PM than what I actually got. These last 13 or so days are going to be non stop.
