Took my first Schweser Mock outside of the Live Mock and got a 78% total
There was a clear distinction in difficulty level between the morning and afternoon sessions. I got an 81% on the morning session and a 75% on the afternoon session. I had a lot of lucky guesses on the afternoon session. I hope that’s not a consistent trend especially considering we’re more tired by the afternoon already.
I think you should get the reward if you can narrow it down to two out of the three options so you’re taking an educated guess between two instead of just blind guessing between the three.
I’d be too demoralised if I only marked the answers I knew for sure.
I just took my second full Schweser Mock and scored 83%:
81% in the morning and 85% in the afternoon - that’s comforting. What’s NOT comforting is knowing that this is Schweser, not CFA exams. I’m going to take a break tomorrow and then take the CFA mock this Saturday as if it were the real deal. I still feel like there is quite a bit I do not know and I feel as though I’m just getting lucky with the questions I am getting. Like the questions are too basic, scratch the surface of my knowledge kind of deal… if they were to dig a little deeper, I’d have to say sorry buddy, I’m not sure I know the answer to that.
Can anyone speak to how well the Schweser mocks represent the actual exam? Some say harder, some say easier… really would just like peace of mind at the moment ><
With those scores you are pretty set for the real one. I gave a schweser mock (70%), elan mock (63% - gave it over 2 days as recommended by them) and just got done with the CFAI mock (61% - gave it today in a real test environment). Was really upset with my result on the CFAI Mock exam, really thought I had it under me. Seems like I am going reverse gear . Planning to give a final schweser online mock on tuesday to get an evaluation with the other candidates.
All the best! Do share your feedback after you are done.
73% on the CFA mock morning session today. If I do both in one day I will feel tired the next day and not manage to get as much studying done so that is why I am doing the afternoon session tomorrow.
Pretty happy with my score but I am still aiming to get my scores above 75% in general before the day of the actual exam.
Ethics and Economics were more difficult on the CFA morning mock exam than the Schweser mocks.
QBank: 75% average (4 tests of 120 questions) around 2hs 30 min
In my opinion, qbank tests are easier than mocks (although i score almost the same, qbank tests were the first ones i took, i.e my last score was 78%).
For the rest of the week im planning to take one Schweser Vol I exam and another mock, aiming for 75% and reviewing weak areas.
I know it’s all about Schweser here, but nevertheless: Anyone done Elan’s Mocks yet?
I scored some stunning 74% (Mock 1 Morning), 76% (Mock 1 Evening) and 85% (Mock 2 Morning). I cannot believe these scores, I do know I have some weak areas but none of them were asked in the exams.
So I’d be very happy if someone could draw a comparison between Elan’s, Schweser’s and CFA Mocks vs. the real thing.
So my question is if a lot if ppl are preparing so well as demonstrated from the above 70% and even above 80% scores on the mocks, why is the passing rate less than 40%? Or this thread rlly involves self-selection bias?
Maybe people just get used to the style of Schweser’s or Elan’s preparation stuff. That’s what I am afraid of.
As of my high scores, I do not have any trust in these results. I know I do have several weaknesses, but it’s as if the mocks were built around these areas. That’s what worries me most. (And that’s why I hope to get some feedback from people having done both Elan as well as Schweser)
I think Schweser materials are more popular than Elan’s. Anyways, doing both the mocks from CFA website and from Schweser or Elans should prepare u better.
But…plz tell me ppl who follow this forum are generally more dedicated to the studies, which is a reason why they get good scores.
If somebody tells me getting above 70% on the mocks is not good enough to indicate you that you are ready for the exam, I will freak out.
Yea, I got a 77% on the CFA mock, but I think I have taken the curriculum more seriously than most CFA Level I candidates. Plus, I’m not even sure if I’ll pass, because I’ll be in a different envrionment with 5x more stress, with much less sleep (hopefully not). I imagine a lot of it has to do with testmanship and how well you can actually take the test with that pressure. Most of it is preparation though and I don’t think a lot of L1 candidates have put in as much effort as needed. I took the Live Schweser Mock and 2 people next to me were like “shiiiiii… I scored 63… I scored a 53”. And then I look at the average score for the 1000 mock exams and it says average score was 62%. I’m willing to bet that a lot of L1 candidates don’t know what’s ahead of them and are taking it for the heck of it… “If I pass, I pass. If I don’t, I gave it a shot”
At this level, I think there’s a healthy amount of people sitting for the exams that are not as dedicated as those of us on the forums. So yes, selection bias is a big factor.
you mean, ppl on this forum are scoring better than average candidate worldwide?
Yeah I know! Despite the fact that the huge amount of material make it difficult for us to know every single concept, it also happens we make mistakes that we shouldn’t. In the mocks I just did, the question said 2000 shares and in my calculation, I used 20,000 shares so I didn’t get the correct answer. It happened more easily in the afternoon session when I was tired!
