Does anyone think CFAI mock PM - (FI) Q#40 - incorrect? Or is it just me? For example, at their explanation at Year 3, its CF should be 102.8 each node, yet they are adding another 2.8…?
If it is just me, would anyone help explaining it to me please?
^ How much higher were you expecting? 70% in the mocks means you’re pretty much ready for the real thing. Took the AM mock. Got rekt by Ethics. Finished 30 mins early. I need to review some of the definitions which are free points but I missed (like all the takeover defenses in CF, the different expectations theories in FI, different spread definitions in FI etc). One thing I learnt from taking the mocks and topic tests is that I’m finishing way too early because of skimming through the vignettes too fast and missing important info given. In the mock for example, under the equity section, I calculated the discount rates correctly based on the formulas I learnt but forgot to add the adjustment factor that they added in the vignette. Another thing I noticed is that this mock didn’t cover a lot of topics that I spent a lot of time preparing for (e.g. swaps, triangular arbitrage, binomial tree bond pricing, etc), Maybe those pop up in the PM. But my lesson learnt here is to review all the definitions again so I don’t miss on the free points.
70% AM, 58% PM & Total 64%. Did poorly in Ethics and Econ. Thought I was doing well for PM session. Don’t know what went wrong. Need to review my mistakes.
I haven’t found much value in retaking any mocks. I can pull the answer to questions I’ve already seen from memory, which defeats the point of a practice test. Although I have found it helpful to review missed/guessed questions.
For what it’s worth, FRA is probably the section that felt lent itself the best to practicing over and over. When I did Level 2, I think my first mock I scored 38% in FRA and on my second I scored 33%. I spent a lot of time with the topic tests and on my 3rd mock I think I was 58% and 4th mock I was 67%. And then on the actual exam I scored over 70% on FRA. A lot of the questions are solvable with a couple simple rules and practice
Experts and fellow candiates , i just took the institute mock for June 2019 level 2 and i got absolutel crushed…i was persistently scoring above 70% on schwser and previous year instute mocks but got crushed for 2019 mock
I am suddenly very scared…is the actual exam similar to the instute mock?
I found the actual exam to be easier than the cfai online exams. They’re very well written and much easier to follow than the online tests so that maybe had something to do with it. For what it worth, I don’t believe I scored higher than 70% in any mock before the exam and passed with a comfortable margin.
The first exam A, scored average 61% (AM & PM). This is not looking good with less than 2 weeks to go
FRA and Derivatives were lowest. The questions in this Mock seem twisted, it took time to figure what what is being asked. Anyone else thought they knew the material but were surprised with the mock? If you scored low, what’s your strategy for the remaining time besides more mocks?
I agree. I just took CFAI Mock 1 and scored 62.5% (65 AM/ 60 PM) which I find really discouraging since I’ve been averaging around the 69-72% mark in the past 4 Schweser/IFT mocks that I’ve taken.
I didn’t do a full review of my responses with the answer key yet, but it seems like I got a number of questions wrong where I know the concepts and have answered many questions correctly in other exams, but they were poorly worded and unclear in this mock in my opinion
I’m hoping this is an anomaly based on CFAI trying to put the heat on. I just plan on doing a deep review of this mock and hoping to learn a few things from it. I have 2 more IFT mocks, the Schweser live, and CFAI 2 before the exam, so hopefully my scores go back to normal on some of these so my confidence can be up for the actual exam
