As for anything useful I can add in this conversation? The majority of my work is in this space and my opinion is unless you have institutional scale don’t even bother, even then there arent too many pure play FX investment funds due to the difficulty in creating alpha. The FX market is so vast, all potential arbritrage opps are quickly eliminated through HFT, there are so many variables to keep track of plus currencies can deviate from their fundamentals forever before they correct i.e. the last five years of jpy strength up until recently.
The advantage in spot fx is the same as that in spot equities, it’s the fragmentation of markets/exchanges. Outside of that - go to vegas, you’ll get free drinks.
