I most definitely did not say this, Joey: READ my posts please. I work a great deal, and have never touched a nintendo and I stay well clear of clubs and alcohol. I myself deeply respect anyone who is attentive to his studies, and am myself ready to put in as much time as I am able between now and the exam. Sometimes cramming is necessary, as much as we wish it were not…I wasn’t looking for “shortcuts,” just for strategy. Starting one month prior to the exam is by definition attempting to find a shortcut.
M. Swan, in your use of this “insult,” you demonstrate your casual disdain for those in our society who have perhaps not had access to the luxuries and privileges you have had. The humblest laborer has something to teach the whitest of white collars. Is he any less of a human being. less deserving of our respect, because he is earning $15/hour to your $500? Actually, I’m not talking down on the position, I landscaped my way through college (best job I ever had) and worked at Panera back in high school. It was more of an indirect rip on the usefullness of a degree in philosophy as well as your hippiness. By the way, I would highly recommend deleting your screenname from relentless to BleronII. If you do, I will completely stop ripping on you, I swear.

During your first read through you should do all of the end of chapter questions, but do them with a time lag of two chapters, meaning, chapter 21 questions when you finish reading 23, etc, to help transition the information from short to long term memory. Finish the things above by October first, this will leave you two months to run through the Schweser Q-Bank questions and memorize / read the Schweser Secret Sauce as well as knock out some CFAI practice exams. That will get you through December’s LI despite your lack of financial background no problem. You’re not going to get past the harshness of the forum any other way, we’ve seen too many people come in here pleading for a magic answer at the last minute then bomb the exams, if you started the plan I outlined above today, I think you would be amazed at the instantaneous change in attitudes and communal support you would recieve here.
Ok, Black Swan…I gotcha…I guess this forum has its own dynamic like any other organization… Thank you for your tip about the “lag.” I am going to see if I can carve out the hours to cram for June. Basically if I can cram through all of FSA by end of week, and then crank through Quant and Ethics next week, I figure I might have a chance.

Here is a little secret for helping you pass: if you spent just as much time studying as you did posting your Philosophical BS, you’d probably be halfway through the material by now. I really don’t mind Philosophy - I just dislike the manner in which you present it. Did you really just say how “the humblest laborer has something to teach the whitest of white collars”…yea, that’s learning how to keep your mouth shut and do your work - obviously you missed that lesson too.
Humiliation!!!

I gotta say, my day just isn’t as fun without him here anymore.
Ok enough with the negativity…try this approach…even if you are not ready…still take the exam. You will be amazed that about 25-30% of those registered don’t show up…no refund…why not just take it. Either way if you pass it now or December…you are still in the same boat to take LII in June 09. Start by Short Study Plan (I did not use this, but suggestion) Read all Schweser Notes once. Do several hundred Qbank questions Attend a Schweser 3 day review Take 3 practice test…assess your weakness. Use this formula…Assume that a 67% or so is a pass. If you know 50% of the answers for sure and guess on the other 50%…that would get you statistically to a 62.5%… and you will find some questions that you can narrow at least one choice…so you see where I am going. Focus on your strong areas…but DO NOT skip any study sessions. I knew going in to Level I that ECON and accounting would be my weakness…I brushed on it…and spent most of my time refreshing Ethics, Quant, Equity, AI and PM…at the end I got over 70% on all those and passed. Best of luck…don’t let the negativity get you down.
My view is that the ~20% completion rate for all three levels is due to the work ethic, long-term planning, and attitudes of people like relentless, such leaks that are independent of education credentials or raw intelligence (which I admit are necessary but only one piece of the game). It’s good to be courteous to people who just don’t seem to have it together, but I think it’s unfortunate that the deep knowledge base, intelligence, and experience of AF members (especially of a guy like JoeyDVivre) are wasted in argumentation and obvious stupid statements such as: 1. do the required reading (either CFAI and/or Schweser materials) 2. work hard 3. don’t start at the last minute. The wasted time dealing with these obvious points could instead be used for questions that would legitimately take advantage of this extraordinary resource we know as AnalystForum. (Though I admit that I’ve been LMAO-ing and it’s good for comic relief.)
And JDV likes LHAO too.
I thought Bleron was pretty cool. His arrogance for level I was justified as he passed comfortably. Level II made him suffer but that only shows that Level I can be an easy target for those with experience in the market. I hope he’ll be back in the L2 forum this year, I’d be honoured to study alongside him ;-).
Bleron had an obvious advantage being as he was the CEO of a prestigious firm and had the opportunity to carry out study sessions within the tranquility of his private yacht. This is evidenced by the fact that he got his passing results several days before the rest of us while on the road traveling the world saving struggling economies. On a serious note, Bleron was just living proof of the role luck plays in LI, he was bombing practice tests non-stop up until exam day. An aquaintance of mine claims to know of the real Bleron and says his brother’s scheduled to sit for the June LI exam.
Where is relentless. I was just beginning to turn around.
Hey guys I’m back! Killer day at work today…still not done. Am hoping to cram a bit this weekend…who is this Bleron fellow? It sounds like I should get in touch with him…if not for exam advice then for a job interview…lmao Look gimme a break…I’ve never even taken a practice exam…I have ZERO idea of what I am in for…I will have a better sense once I am deep into the material and Qbank. Tx Jasonindc for the practical advice. I got my Schweser with me and am going to try to crank through FSA 8,9 this weekend.

Also relentless, here’s this: http://www.cfainstitute.org/cfaprog/courseofstudy/topicareaweights.html If you fail ethics you automatically fail, game over, so study that last and know it inside and out. Other than that, stats, econ, FSA are the three biggies, failing either of those three is difficult to recover from. Know them.

Bump for kicks…anyone remember this kat? never heard from him again…
