50k does seem low, I already know mines going to cost around 100k GBP. Our venue alone is about 15k including decorations, photographer and catering. She wants a fancy designer dress as well which I don’t understand.

Why not? While I don’t know of members in the 100 of millions, I do know of members in the tens of millions. At what net worth should one discontinue their AF membership? Should there be a minimum as well?

Avoid the jewelry store, go online, buy a respectable size diamond of high quality and a nice setting. I used Zoara, got a VVS2 stone with Excellent grade cut, E color and a tension setting rather than the prongs. It looks much nicer than any of the rings her friends have, because the high quality of the stone catches a ton of light and the setting makes it look bigger than it really is. Really satisfied with the result and gave me the ability to buy her a larger and higher quality rock than I would have been able to at a store.

And we all know this is really what matters!

She likes having the best looking ring out of her friends. I like having the best looking wife out of my friends. She never once mentioned engagement rings etc. etc. or tried to parade me past a jewelry store in a mall after 2+ years of living together, so I enjoyed buying her something nice knowing that she wasn’t pushing for it.

I’d say yes to a couple of honeymoon trips over a stone any day A stone I’d be too scared to even wear on a regular basis, in case I loose it or get mugged.
