Been playing around at the 12mph speed on stride and stuff. Felt really good today. Like wasn’t winded at 12mph or anything. Found a good pace song - “La camisa negra.” My stride is pretty short with that song, but feels really good on my quads. I can’t do a long stride because I’m still injured in my upper spine. I’ll long stride it out if I need to flush out some cramps or something, but thats about it. I think I might go with something in between a long stride and a triathlon stride for 9/9/18 NYC. So normal stride?
I’m seeing what BS was saying about hitting 5:15 but the vast difference between that and 20 seconds faster. I can’t test out a full 1mi right now at that pace, but feel i’m around 5:20 at least (175lbs today).
My endurance has been real high lately (since after going to Colorado). I think I could hit a 5min mile today @184lbs. I’m still cross training though and haven’t even done specific drills for this distance yet. I don’t really need to focus on the 1mi now, so will still cross train most of the year in MMA. I’ll probably start distance specific interval training on 8/1/18, train with increasing intensity up to 9/6, chill run on 9/7, super chill run on 9/8, and then a 4:55 mile on 9/9/18 on 5th Avenue is the goal.
I’m out the game and fat so not sure how I’m looking for 5th ave mile this year. I had a second kid, hand surgery, remodeled my house and took on new work last year and just told my wife up front in June I was letting myself go, haha. I’ll give it the old college try this year and see how I feel around August.
lol I don’t live in Colorado, I just mean visiting there, cross training / competing there in Snowboarding. I was in Denver for a night to adjust to altitude and 9 nights at high altitude (9,000 at night, 10-11,000 in the day). I came back with endurance levels I have never seen. Yeah we can crush some drinks next time. Maybe a Coors. Taste the Rockies… haha
