I did the Dirty German in Pennypack a couple of weeks ago. Lived up to the name…it was sloppy as a Saint Bernard’s kiss, but beer never tasted so good.
I just picked up a cheap digital bluetooth scale off of Amazon. I’m not sure it is completely accurate, but the variance on the scale seems pretty good. For $40, it seemed like a deal. There are a bunch of models out there. I’m not sure of the best/most accurate. But, I like this one so far. There is a graph feature on the app which graphs your stats over time, which I like as well. I used to write down my weight on the wall on a piece of paper. This makes it a lot easier to track. I just stand on the scale and the stats pop up on my phone (free app). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076VBY7ZT/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I might do a sprint tri one of these days. I’ve only done Olympic and 70.3s. My knee can’t do 70.3 anymore (it doesn’t hurt now, but that training caused it to hurt). I’d love to see how fast I can get my baby going (she’s a Carbon Fiber Trek Madone with aerobars). The bike was always the most fun for me in the Tri’s. Its so nice riding on a long course with all the roads blocked off, just hauling ass through the towns and hills and people cheering every now and then is something you never forget.
See a PT about the knee thing… probably fixable. I had a hip issue that was flairing up on every run just 2 months ago. Saw a PT for exercises/ stretches and now Im all good
aww I like treadmills - they mean everything kmdddd and imma use treadmills to beat you on 5th ave… But, yeah, I’m going to do some 400m intervals when the date gets closer on the track. If you beat me, I’ll just say, ‘maybe you were right about the treadmills, KMD’… haha You know what would be really sick, if you got like a 4:57 and I got a 4:59. That would be the only defeat I would accept.
I went to my clubhouse gym to warm up earlier today and have recently been doing sprint incline intervals after jump rope and some other stuff. I had been there for a bit and this chick came in and went straight to the treadmill. I got on one next to her (there was one treadmill in between us). I was about 8 minutes into intervals and she grunted real loud. It was odd. So I looked at her without much ability to not look at her, because that noise was so weird. Then she screamed at me as we locked eyes. I’m totally like wtf. wtf! I don’t know whats going on, but kept doing intervals for 3 more minutes. Then, this chick brings a mat into the other room where the pool table and other stuff are and starts doing some workout in there. She comes into the main gym room 5 min later, throws down her mat all crumpled and then takes these 10lb dumbbells and does dumbbell bench for 5 minutes on one of those inflated balls, then storms out and leaves this crap everywhere.
Wtff!!! Honestly she wasn’t even that hot. I think she was mid 20s. But like, what is going on here? Of course, I’m left in the gym with all this crap scattered around and clean up after her. I can’t get this off my mind. What the f***… I’m just confused. Like, what caused her to act like this? Does she not know normal etiquette or is she bat shit crazy? I think the latter. That scream face will haunt me for months. Why???
Really ACE? You never had a meltdown in the gym. I remember one time when my training was super high I went to pool, got all suited up… googles on. I went to the edge of the pool and just stared at that black line and was just like no! NO! NO! I just can’t get in this cold water and stair at this black line today! No! Did not even get in… just left and went home! Lol
I went with the Nike Air Zoom Mariah Flyknit Racer. I haven’t run in them yet. I’ve never used a shoe this lightweight or minimalist. The heel strikes very differently from other shoes I’ve worn.
I wanted to try the regular flyknit racers, but haven’t been able to find them in the store.
If these work, I’ll probably custom design a new pair on the Nike website. They only had black/grey in the store; I’d prefer bright colors next time.
My heavy mi trainers are Brooks Ghost 10, which are great. This is a lightweight low mi race designed shoe for neutral and efficient runners, which is why I bought it.
I train in Asics too. I have been very loyal to them since 2001.
Nike made 3 spots out of 17 in this ‘Best Lightweight Running Shoes’ list. I think the Flyknits are the lightest shoes on the market. 2/3 on the list are Nike Flyknits.
I ran in the Nike Flyknit Mariahs today, felt really good. They just don’t look neutral looking at the heel, but when running it is legit. They feel amazing. I’m impressed.
