Fitbit’s core competency is not GPS technology and it’s pretty obvious that their watches are not very accurate. If you want accuracy go with something like Garmin. If you want trendy then Fitbit is fine.
Yeah, you’re right. I did see that Garmins do track a lot better. But, they are like $600+.
I mainly just wanted it for music. lol though it’s certainly not trendy imo - I like the look of that other watch above much better that was $100 cheaper. I was worried about the interface on that one though.
The heartbeat, calorie counter, and sleep analysis have been good to me so far on the Fitbit. The calorie burn rate runs on weight and heartbeat. My resting heartbeat is 49-51BPM, which is pretty good for me. The calorie counter helps me to plan for meals at the end of the day if I’m 1000 cal higher than expected or something, to avoid a calorie deficit and receive appropriate nutrients.
I mainly have been using the Pandora offline feature for music. It syncs your top 3 stations in offline mode and you can skip through all of them if you like.
In some ways I wish I got the Apple for a better interface, but have been happy with the Fitbit so far. I read a lot of reviews so had low expectations.
But yeah, next watch will be a bit more high tech like a Garmin probably.
I have the Suunto Spartan Sport watch w/ the chest strap HR monitor (which is better than wrist anyway) It was only $300. Tracks great and has lots of sport modes. Even counts laps for me when I swim! I plug it into my computer to charge it and download my workouts ( which then go to strava). When it is pluged in, it gets updates as well so it continues to track accurately
I’ve had my Garmin for almost 10 years and it still works fine, even if a little outdated. If you can amortize the cost of a quality watch over that length of time then it’s probably worth it.
I just bought a Fitbit versa as a gift. Supposedly they selling like hotcakes. Read review on amazon and saw it was half price from Apple Watch. So I was like wow what a perfect gift!
