Did these guys get their test results back? Or everything is on hold until the pcp is resolved?
on hold until PCP is resolved… had 3 guys that sit near me pass L2 yesterday, and here I am waiting to hear from the PCP investigation…totally frustrating!!
Still waiting. They just asked me to confirm my address just in case they needed to send me anything else. BMU777, I’m sorry, but I don’t think it’s a good idea to share my response. Anybody could copy something from it and get me in -more- trouble. And there’s no point in doing it anyways. This is the first time I have to face something like this, so my approach is as good as anyone else’s. Besides, each case may be totally different. Just be sincere, don’t spice things up (as outrageous as the accusation may be) and give as much detail as possible about everything the proctor wrote on the violation report. I don’t know whether that’s the best way or not, but it’s what I did.
fdez sorry if you already posted somewhere, but did you share your email id here?
I hope it turns out well for you guys.
good luck guys, must be frustrating as heck
Hey. I received a letter from CFA Institute today saying that I have similar answers with those of another candidate at a local test center and an investigation has been initiated. this is ridiculous… cuz I didn’t cheat… I was looking at the disciplinary actions page on the cfa website and it looks like everyone in the end is guilty and the longer you prolong it, ie. go to hearing court, the bigger the punishment. I don’t want to be wrongfully accused of this. This is my future. does anyone know if the exams are video recorded at the local centres to prove that i’m innocent? and also, I don’t know how to write this response letter too except to blurt out all the reasons why I wouldn’t / and couldn’t have cheated. If you guys have any ideas for me, it will be much appreciated, thanks.
double post…
thats such a great blog to read …

Nothing, and no proctors reported anything, I didn’t get any reports in the mail about proctors saying that I was cheating, just similar answers. i wouldnt expect one because I never even looked up from my exam… i guess its just because the computer detected similar answers with someone around me?
anybody got replies from them???
http://www.cfainstitute.org/ethics/Documents/Professional%20Conduct%20Program%20Documents/can_discipline_stats.pdf Was bored and browsing the CFAI website…came across this…from the stats it looks like most people that are reported get private reprimands (whatever that means) or cautionary letters.
^ Most likely a slap on the wrist.
did anybody get any response from the CFAI for similarity analysis or glancing violation…??? Wonder how long they will take… any idea when they replied last year…??
are all these alleged ‘cheating’ incidents in the US?..UK proctors seem quite tame and less ‘enthusiastic’ about catching ppl.
Well, finally the PCP has sort of cleared me. They sent me an e-mail today stating that the matter is closed. There won’t be any punishment and my results will be available in 2-3 days, but they say: “Although your conduct was a violation of the CFA Examination Rules and Regulations, the Professional Conduct Program has determined that no further inquiry into this matter is warranted.” And then go on to kind of threat me that they will be watching me and if they receive another violation report I will hardly get away with it, which -since I didn’t do ANYTHING wrong- really pisses me off, but I guess there’s no point in keep arguing with them, so I will just try to forget it and focus on going back to study.
Congrats, I really think this was the best case scenario. I hope you passed and you get a different proctor for level 3.

The last letter suggests that there is presumption of guiltiness. If there is a report, you are automatically guilty and that’s a stamp forever, whether there is enough evidence to prove it or not. It would be interesting to consult a lawyer on the matter, at least just for curiosity.
