Obama would have thrashed trump by a large margin I would imagine. Hillary is abotu the only candidate he has a chance against and its because so many people cant stand her. I would imagine Gore, Kerry and Obama would all destroy him. Bernies poll numbers (which arent exactly the greatest indicator) against Trump showed it pretty clearly as well.

No doubt, but it doesn’t change the fact that Obama was as beatable as an incumbent as George HW Bush was. The economy was crap (particularly for the lower incomes), we were still in a war that had become unpopular by then, Gitmo was still open (still is for those who care), there was no immigration bill introduced, etc., etc., etc. The only “accomplishments” the Obama administration had at that point were giving the green light to executing Bin Laden, expanding the Bush bailouts, Obamacare, and he was still black.
What hasn’t been mentioned so far is how the face of the country is changing. The Dems have gotten at least 250 EC in every election since 1988 (271 is needed to win the Presidency). It’s getting harder for Republicans to win the White House. They have no margin of error in the swing states. Trump alienating the fastest growing demographic will certainly not reverse this trend. The irony in all this is that many believed Roe vs Wade would hurt the Dems as all those aborted foetuses would have turned out to be Democrats. I guess no one predicted immigrants siding massively on one side as a possible outcome.

PBS has a documentary showing that covers the struggles to keep abortion clinics open. An appropriate title would have been “The struggle to keep killing fetuses of African descent.” I believe in a one year trial period, but very sad to watch.
