Thanks for the link, a sticky at the top of one of the subforums had some good advice. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=708658 I’ll update this thread later after I speak with them again.

I spoke with the woman that contacted me for 15 minutes or so, she seemed like a very nice person. However, she told me that she wanted the website to start a forum. Doh! I went ahead as planned and asked for a written offer, which she found quite amusing but agreed to. I’m expecting an offer of $100 or less. *sigh* I guess retirement can wait.
I’m sure there are already forums out there serving the market she’s thinking about. What’s her marketing spin on it? Forums take a long time to get going. I tried to start one a ways back and could never get any momentum on attracting members. Heck, I couldn’t even get my friends to sign up (and it was free).
She doesn’t want to use it in the same market that I originally intended, but something similar. Apparently there isn’t a good forum for tracking events, news, etc. and she has a fairly large network in the segment. Apparently there is demand for a forum of this nature and she knows a lot of people in the business, so that is her competitive advantage if you will. But I think that her desired use for the forum is hobby motivated as opposed to profit motivated. In order to prove to me that she wasn’t a Nigerian scam artist she just added me as a friend on Facebook. I’m torn, the probability of me using it in the future very low, under 5% and if she wanted to do something with it the nice guy side of me (which I constantly try to oppress) says to let it go for very cheap and bring joy to her life. The other side of me says “F That”. I have several days to reconcile it in my head.
Well, is she hot? P.S.: It’s ok to be human.
She’s not bad. Apparently she was a real cow in 2005 and she went on a 2 year massive weight loss kick and by 2007 she was very fit. The before pics were fully clothed (thankfully) and the after pics were much more revealing. She was born in the early 70s and I was born in 1980 so she’s a little old for me. Not to mention I’m married… With a child…
Will you hate yourself if she ends up selling the site for 8 figures to a media company a year from now? Yes, you will. “Lease” it to her for free, just put up some google ads and collect the rent.

Probably a stupid question, but how would I “put up some google ads and collect the rent.”
I’m sure you could find a canned lease agreement on the web. Have a gmail account? Then you are halfway to being able to use Google AdSense. http://www.google.com/intl/en_us/ads/ads_2.html
Any updates?
Not really, she sent me a Facebook message letting me know that she had mailed me the offer.
I received her offer of $100 in the mail last week. I decided against being a nice guy and giving her the domain for nothing. Here is the message that I sent her via facebook. ******************************************************************** Chick that wants my domain, I received your offer letter last week as well as your message yesterday. I considered composing a counteroffer of $3,000 but decided against because I’m nearly certain that a counter of 30x your original offer would at best be a waste of both yours and my time and at worst be downright offensive. SaidDomain.com is my only website and when I registered it I had no intention of selling. For this reason and my general lack of knowledge in this area I’m afraid that my only domain is worth more to me than it is actually worth on the market. Shortly after registering SaidDomain.com I registered theSaidDomain.com; I let the latter expire and it may still be available, as are SaidDomain.org, .net, etc. It seems that your best option would probably be to come up with a new domain name or a different extension of SaidDomain. While this is not a formal offer, I wouldn’t be willing to part with SaidDomain.com for much less than $3,000. You seem to be a very nice person with a great story and I’m sorry that I won’t be able to sell you my website at reasonable price. Bankin’ ********************************************************************** I don’t expect an offer and I’m okay with that. If I do get an offer I’m even more okay with that, but I think the passage above is where the story ends.
haha nice - facebook: the only way to conduct business
Thanks for the update Bankin. You did the right thing by keeping it. What’s a $100, anyway? I actually sold a domain for around $100 once, but I knew for certain i was never going to use it in the future.

I considered your leasing idea, but it seems like more of a hassle than it’s worth.
You said you registered the name 10 years ago and forgot about it. I doubt it’s worth $3,000 to you. Why not accept $1,000? Better than her original offer.

I’d certainly be open to less than $3000, even less than $2000, but if her budget is $400 then my indifferent response should deter her from pursuing it further. If her budget is 4 figures then I expect a response from her and maybe we’ll make something happen. With that said, I find that highly unlikely.
Just a nice little thread this one - the promise of riches, the negotiations, the use of Facebook as a business tool, the suspense as we waited to hear the offer…just wonderful… Makes a nice change from hearing about who plans on doing who’s mom…
