Questions about your actual experiences and technical skills are way better. Personality wise, I think the hiring managers can make an intuitive decision when they talk to you anyway. But then again, if you end up in a large company, you’d have to put up with the HR constantly with the performance ratings and reviews whatnot.

The problem with HR is that many of them are not trained properly to understand a CV, especially the technical parts of it. Many use buzzwords when they scan it.

I believe HR is useful to filter out the unqualified candidates, but not necessarily good at sending the most qualified ones on the hiring manager’s desk.
