True, marrying a brasileira might solve the problem, but my Russian GF might object, and those stars tatooed on her dad’s shoulders make me just a wee bit nervous.
That definitely is the jeitinho to open doors…if you find the right person.
bchadwick…you in NYC?
yep.
I wish there was a place in NYC that served Brahma choppes bem gelado…since nothing happening for me in the immediate future in NYC, I might head down there for Carnival…probably Floripa or Maresias.
ahahhaah man, it is also my plan to go to carnaval…I’m just not sure if I’ll make it back… Floripa is ridiculous, probably the place with the prettiest women on earth, its ridiculousss, been there before? Sao Paulo unfortunelly is a joke compared to places like porto alegre, floripa and curitba em materia de mulher!
I’ve never been to Floripa, but would love to go.
I have been there many times Mole, Brava, Itaja, and all over SC, RGS …I had a GF that was a gaucha from PA…Ahhhh…man…it is very easy to be a Tom Brady down there… Funny when I was down sul , and I ran into another gringo, we would swear ourselves to silence …
Yeah guys, great times We should open a hedge fund in Brazil, the 3 of us!
vamula’ mermao
hey any of you guys know the best way a guy like me can learn portugese (i used to be fluent in spanish and italian, but its all gone now) because im really tired of the rey weather we get in vancouver, and i want to be able to hit the beach no matter what the date it is.
Brazilian girlfriend is the best way; or just try living down there. Spanish and French will help a lot with getting the gist. If you can read spanish, you can read portuguese. Speaking is more challenging, because the accent is substantially different (Sao Paulo is the easiest accent to adapt to; Rio is much harder).
The best thing would be to spend some time in a portuguese speaking country such as Brazil where you would be forced to speak all day; don;t find people to speak english ,you really should make an effort and get out of your confort zone if you really wanna learn , but if you can’t,You should get a brazilian/portuguese girlfriend or start hanging out with natives and speaking all the time you can, watch some tv, listen to the radio… You’re gonna start to pick it up easily since you have a background in italian and spanish which are very similar , that’s how I learned Spanish, then went to Spain for a summer in a study abroad program and lived with a host family , amazing experience! Boa sorte!
