Florida

Florida is the basement of the US. It’s dark, damp, wet, and full of filthy creatures. Why would you want to vacation there.

You just described the subhumans in Pinellas County. Don’t forget about all of the snakes, sharks, crocs, bugs, and other sh*t that will get you.

Don’t forget the snakes!

This. I am not a Christian or Jewish.

What other places would you suggest drivable from NJ/NY. Have been to CT, Long Island, Boston, DC, Philly, Delaware, Poconos, New Hamshire - on the east coast - several times. So what’s left to be seen on the east.

I can max drive to Chicago - but have been there also (and yes love the city!)

Wow, never used ITA Matrix before. good call

Charlestown, SC…MIA down the the Keys is cool, but man that is far.

Niagra Falls is not a bad drive and the Canadian side has a lot decent stuff to do. Montreal is not a bad drive either.

^ Been to Niagara Falls, NY (several times) and Canada side (once). Loved Toronto downtown, was there for a week and absolutely did not want to come back to NYC :-\

I flew home from my in-laws on Christmas evening a couple years ago to make a Chiefs game the next day. Our xmas celebrations are done by noon anyway so everyone is over seeing each other by the evening. Completely agree about it being a great day to travel. Flights were empty and I got free booze. +1 would fly on xmas again.

First time I see this ITA Matrix stuff too. Maybe Google will start selling travel packages soon.

Google has a bunch of anti-trust things related to indexing and selling flights. Over on another fourm (Flyertalk) filled with frequent travelers (I am a road warrior), they all use ITA Matrix to “Mileage run.” You basically find flights that are cheaper per mile than the value of the points you earn taking the trip. Most of those guys MR so much they end up getting first class upgrades whenever they fly for fun on weekends. ITA Matrix is the best way to find flights, since it does all possible combinations (round trips, two one ways, two one ways different air providers, etc). Only airline I don’t think it picks up is Southwest.

^ Explain ITA to this dummy. I have a mountain of miles I’ve never used. How can I get the best value?

When I first started working, US Air gave a minimum of 750 miles per leg and flew out of a county airport near my house. I racked up a lot miles on those 20 minute flights from the county airport to PHL. Security was a non-issue back then too, so I could pull into the parking lot 15 mintues before my flight with no problems. Damn I feel old.

Best value of redeeming miles or earning them?

Redeeming.

Which airline? Each airline has a different point redemption values.

I’m confused too. How is ITA different than expedia?

Check out this for a good over view of its functionality:

ITA Isn’t going to be useful for redeeming points. It’s useful for searching through tons of different combinations easily with max customization. The reason its useful is the way things are displayed, the options available, and the ability to customize search using routing codes easily. Same flight info as Expedia, just easier to manipulate. For example, I don’t think you can do more than 1:1 search on Expedia. On ITA matrix, I can put 5 airports for “Leaving From” and 3 for “arriving” and it does all the permutations. Makes planning trips that have flexibility extremely easy to compare (I.e. leaving out of two nearest airports and arriving in 1 of the 4 airports in Italy).

Guys - any suggestions for water sports in Key West?

I am looking to book the 6 hour “Do it All” package from Sunset Water Sports Key West - http://sunsetwatersportskeywest.com/. Charges around $109

Any personal suggestions or better recommendations?
