I’m glad to hear that there’s a reduction in material. Many thanks Giovanni for pulling the summary together.
2012 - 2013 Level 2 also saw a reduction in material, a I recall that some of the more awkward readings like emerging market valuation and the international pm readings were deleted
Wow some of these sections were a pain in the ass to study for. Looks like CFAI wants to focus more on behavioral finance, portfolio mgmt and less on this quasi-level 2 material. Although I do think the pension capital section was good material and helpful for analyzing a company since pensions are an issue.
I just have to come in and comment on the Original Poster’s screen name, that is awesome/hilarious lol.
People who just passed level 2 are feeling pretty good right now. On the positive side, when I have to re-take level 3 again, at least I will have 8 less readings this time around…
^ nothing wrong with 2013 notes. Just skip the ones removed. The main material is unchanged and pretty subjective. It’s not like you’ll learn the wrong thing.
Has anyone used Ebay/Amazon to buy older prep material (i.e. prior year and than just do a quick LOS/reading comparison)? Seems like 2013 vs. 2014 is more elimination than addition of new stuff so wondering why ppl wouldn’t just go the cheaper route? Maybe a bit risky?
Word. A lot of these were the same concepts, just rewritten differently, so that you had to memorize the same thing two different ways.
A lot of the stuff was “filler” material, like the pension plan beta stuff. I gave it a once over, then moved on. I don’t even remember it being tested on the exam.
And did anybody seriously try to remember which of the BRIC countries would experience high wage growth? Which ones would experience high GDP growth? Which will experience high population growth? (I completely skipped all this, and I don’t think it was on the test.)
