Book 6 1 AM: 73% Book 6 1 PM: 76% Book 6 2 AM: 76% Book 6 2 PM: 78% CFAI Free Sample: 76% Need to get to the 80’s…
Hey nirjraina any tips for ethics … need help only in the 70s now
the CFA 2007 sample 1 level 1 80% Version 1
Just took my first CFAI mock exam - 75% Finally broke the 70’s on these things! Hopefully, this will hold strong with 8 days to go! Been in the 70’s for most of book 6 and mid 60’s for book 7…
Book 6 1am 76% 1pm 76% 2am 78% 2pm 82% 3am 70% 3pm 71% Book 7 1am 74% 1pm 70% Doing worse with every exam
Well after my brief stint of confidence I am right back where I belong… CFAI Sample Exam 3: 73% Bombed FSA like nobody’s business, my Econ is in the crapper as well.
Schweser book 6, exam 1 PM session: overall 66%, finished the exam in 2.5hrs breakdown Ethics: 77% Quant: 66% Econ: 57% FSA: 56% Asset Valuation: 78% Portfolio Mgmt: 58% Needless to say disappointing, but here are my observations from this exam. a) seemed a lot easier than the curriculum end of the chapter questions b) not high on calculations at all, found asset valuation chapter way too easy (think real questions are going to be definitely harder than this) c) FSA section was moderate difficult i felt, took me more than an hr to just do 30 questions. d) Overall questions were not tricky, especially, not if you knew one answer, you could guess the other part of the question, cuz they don’t give you same answer choices. e) 80% of questions are identify false or true out of 4 statements. f) I didn’t come across a lot of ratios, dupont, yields spreads etc… looks like these exams are way to old, cuz it had hopeless questions. Please suggest strategy going forward. Thanks
Book 6 exam 1 AM Ethics 77.78% Quant 78.57% Econ 83.33% FSA 58.82% Asset Valuation 66.67% Portfolio Management 83.33% overall 69% FSA is my main weakness
CFAI Sample Exam 2: 88% Schweser Book 7, Level 1 exam questions (sample from previous years): 91% Finally getting to the point where confidence is high

rlange… i so agree… Some of the topics that is still giving me problems: 1) NOI and After tax cash flow calculations for Real estate investments 2) FRA questions (taking way too long) 3) IFRS vs GAAP differences (too many to memorize it seems…) 4) Schweser Ethics trap (too much playing around with minor tricks it seems…) Let me know what you think…
Yeah, the real estate problems gave me trouble for awhile, but with practice it isn’t real bad. I used Q bank to drill me down on that area. When I read the long questions while taking an exam on paper, I underline key words as I read them. That way when I go back to the question to reference certain areas it saves a lot of time (tip I picked up from a friend). IFRS vs GAAP is basically summarized in the last section of FSA, don’t think they will ask us details, just main ideas (LIFO not allowed under IFRS, upward valuation of LTA not allowed under GAAP, and so on). Helps that I did my senior research paper this year on the differences, so I get a good grasp on the material. I second what you say about the ethics traps, sometimes you can interpret more than one way. I hope the questions on the exam are more to the point on what they are asking you.
rlange… thanks for the pointers.
Schweser Exam 1 AM… 64%… took me 3.5 hours instead of 3 hours though… Sigh… This was rather disappointing… At least there is lots of room for improvement. Will try PM tomorrow after I review all my mistakes…
Oh well… Ethics:68% Quant:69% Econ:85% FSA:84% Port. mngmt.: 50% Asset Val.: 49% Overall 67% Took 2:10 granted, I started at 4am. Blanked big time on quant stuff which probably won’t happen when im rested (I just graduated 2 weeks ago with a math/econ degree). I should probably look at the Asset readings…
Here’s my first exam on all topics, CFA-weighted, through Qbank, 120q, easy/med/hard…87% The exam took me a little over 2 hours. Schweser’s questions are very calculation heavy. Percentage By Topic Area Ethical and Professional Standards Topic Area 1 79% Quantitative Methods Topic Area 2-3 88% Economics Topic Area 4-6 100% Financial Statement Analysis Topic Area 7-11 80% Portfolio Management Topic Area 12 83% Asset Valuation Topic Area 13-18 92%
