Apparently it’s “Swish-er”…I know eh? Willy
Whenever I have to say the name, I pronounce it like German. “Shvayz-er” is how I would approximate it. And I agree with Numi on the pronunciation of Loewenbraeu, “broy” being a fair approximation for “braeu”, with “ae” meaning a with an umlaut. Now the question is, how do you pronounce Ausfuehrungsbestimmungen?
Or Schwarzwälderkirschtorte…

I just called the Schweser toll free # (888) 325-5072 and the operator pronouces it as SWAIZER…
When I called, they actually said “SWAY-ser”, no “sch” or anything and so that’s how I’ve been pronouncing it. I actually mentioned that I’d wondered how to pronounce it and they said that’s how. God, I should really be able to remember how they said it on the videos and final review, I’ve heard it so often, but can’t.
postivecarry, we must have been posting at the same time, I should have spelled mine like you did, same pronunciation.
Well then they’re pronouncing a German name in a non-German way, but that’s their can of beans. A good friend of mine has a Germanic last name, with two sets of “ei” in the name. Properly pronounced, “ei” should sound like “I”, as in the English pronoun. But his name has always been pronounced by Americans with the first “ei” set like an I and the second set like an E. Letters, who needs them?

I am really confused now. This is so basic, what am I missing? In German, Schweser would be pronounced “shveze” just like Schwester, schwer, Schwelle, Weser, etc. To pronounce it “shvayzer”, the spelling would have to be “Schweiser”, just like in Schweigen, Schwein, Schweiz, Schweinsteiger, etc. As to Loewenbrau, it is prounounced Loewenbrau. Period. Mit freundliche gruessen, VierSchloesser

Shhhhh-whyyyyyyy-zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzer.
It depends on whom I am talking to. I’d sometimes say “Sch-veh-serr” and sometimes “Sch-way-zuhrr”.
