How far is everyone in the reading?

Finished Quant/Econ/FRA. Going through equity now, on SS 12. Going a bit slower than planned, but feel I’m understanding the material well which is most important. Hoping to get through 2 or 3 readings together. Enjoying how analytical equity has been, lots of critical thinking.

Finished Ethics, Quants, Econ, FRA, Corp. Finance and Equity. Doing Schweser EOC, CFAI curriculum EOCs and portal topic vignette test by fininshing each topic reading. Also, made a review by repeating everything from beginning before starting Equity session.

Still do not feel comfortable about 30-40 % of overall material. It’s much more challenging to me than 1L. Interesting, I have found only Quants and Econ material easier than on L1.

I’m planning finish reading latest till the mid April and start overall review with hard examing difficult chapters also since April am planning to start taking Mocks.

So far made readings only from Schweser but I should review all difficult areas through official curriculum in the last phase beginning with April.

Regarding offical CFAI EOCs, I exercise only exam form (vignette) questions, skipped all questions without feel the correct answer solutions (A, B,C), I mean those with required definitions, descriptions, calculations etc. I was surprised when found this manner of questionary in CFAI curriculum.

I have read all chapters except for derivatives and portfolio management, and I made my own notes for each chapter as well. I haven’t done any questions yet and I’m worried about vignette style questions as they are realllly hard.

i so feel the same… feel like jumping out of the window too… or run somewhere away from the books.

The EOC PP vignettes seem a bit contrived to me. The 6 questions almost always follow the order in which the vignette is written. Basically, you could slice the vignette into 6 pieces and place each piece above a question … basically turning it into L1.

Well, maybe FRA had some financial statements that you had to use for most of the 6, but I hit FRA in the fall.

I’m kinda terrified the CFAI mock will switch to item sets where you do truly have to work up and down the entire vignette for each Q.

I have 3 study sessions left. Two Derivatives & Portfolio Management. I was hoping to start reviewing by March 1st, but it has been tough. I need to write my own notes & flash cards which take forever. I started in November.

I have done almost all of Wiley Questions, All EOCs, my own notes, and my own flash cards. I also attend the Saturday morning class with Mr Magician. My goal is 10 mocks. Time is flying!

I’m starting today

I started officially yesterday. Let’s make a pool about who passes haha

Honestly, this question is way too subjective to give any merit. There is a lot of material, but everyone is different. I have a realistic approach that gives me more than 300 hours of study time.

The worst thing to do is panic.

-) Read CFAI curriculum once + 2x BB + 2x EOC questions

-) Read Schweser Notes for revision

-) Did online CFAI questions for FRA, Equity, CF, AI, FI, Derivatives

To be honest, I feel like I spent 300-400 hours and still did not master the curriculum and was surprised at how difficult the online questions are. Will re-read Schwester in the last couple of months + do all online questions again + mock exam within final 2 weeks. This exam is really challenging me …

I found few questions among online vignettes with certain terms not even covered by Schweser. I have not examined all topics yet nor started doing Mocks. I expect find more than a couple when I finish all tests.

interesting, what are some of the things you found

So far I found Solow model in Econ session and more one term in Copr. finance which I cannot remember.

On L1 I also found Float factor and some other terms.

Those missing terms and partially explained some key chapters are disadvantage while the key advantage is the approcah for solving equations through BA II Plus tutorial in Schweser while it’s not the case in CFAI. So mathematical chatpters through official curriculum are pain in the ass for me. IMO, the optimal mode is using both sources.

agree, i went through econ chapter in eoc, made no sense

I am planning to cover all topics by the end of March, then I have 2 months for revision, EOC questions and mocks. I need to finish Alternative inv. and Portfolio management in the next 4 weeks.

My study strategy has been: I watch Arif’s videos (taking notes), then I solve examples and EOC questions in curriculum + if possible I practice from other sources (Schweser notes).

What is your opinion about my study strategy?

Digging into equity, I feel good about it given that I started in late Jan
