This really is the problem with this country. Both sides want to have their cake & eat it too. They want the government to enforce THEIR policies and force them on other people, but when the other side wants the same they argue how the govenment should stay out of those things.

I am with bromion

Some people hate Hillary, but you are vastly out of touch with the country if you think Trumpie has any chance.

There are a lot of big city folk that will be voting Republican. In fact the Republican party dominates both the top and bottom quartiles of the wealth distribution.

44/50 is a pretty wide gap. Now, there’s a long time for it to change (in either direction), but it does suggest that it requires 100% of the “I don’t like Hilary” crowd to hate her enough to vote for Trump for Trump to have a shot at buying off the Supreme Court like Bush did.

Will 100% of those who don’t like Hilary hate her enough that they don’t care if Trump is President? Right now, that seems unlikely, no matter how much the real Hilary haters detest her.

For the record, I don’t like Hilary that much either, but I’d still take her over Trump. At least Hilary won’t fire nuclear missiles at Russia just because Putin made some remark about his hair or banged his daughter in Reykjavik.

Trump and Putin are “stable mates”.

This: she is evil and must be stopped. I’ll take the WWE-style candidate who is mainly putting on a show and will probably calm the F down once he gets elected. I’d vote for a Dem as well but not Clinton. Not ever.

The argument that Trump is going to fire missles at Putin is absurd. If you don’t like him because he’s a clown and racist, fine. But he’s not going to start a nuclear holocaust.

If you thought I was being literal with the nukes (or Putin banging his daughter), then you need to sit down and take a xanax, perhaps over a glass of Jim Beam.

However, Trump will send the marines without thinking. Just read up on what Trump does when he gets emotional, then think about what it takes to get him emotional, and then think about trusting him with the armed forces and the football.

I’m not sure why people think Hilary is evil. I don’t like her much, but evil is reaching far. Are you saying concentration camps and gulags? Or just that you think she made $100,000 somewhere on some shady-sounding deal.

Maybe not you but that is a serious argument a lot of people discuss about Trump.

Hilary has made a career out of doing shady and dishonest things for her own benefit, lying about it, and destroying evidence. Just another dishonest, self interested career politician. We’ve had enough of that with the same handful of people involved over the last 20+ years.

I also need to understand the evilness of Hillary. I just need to read up, maybe.

she’s a seasoned politician/criminal/liar

I need specifics. For example, Bill Clinton was a seasoned politician but is generally well regarded by history. GWB was inexperienced and really f’d a lot of things up (mostly Iraq) to a level that hasn’t happened since Vietnam. So, I guess just saying someone is seasoned politician doesn’t really sway me. I care about predicted outcomes. If Hil is likely to f the country up more than Trump, that is basically what I will vote on.

Trump is a European style conservative, guys like that won’t win here. You think he’s going to get votes from blacks, Hispanics, women, young, or, educated people? He has a narrow niche.

Not on this forum, though.

GHWB was also a seasoned politician/political animal and his dad was a senator. He is pretty well regarded by most.

Not shocking, a lot of the ridiculous & racist policy stances the repubs put out the people at the bottom are stupid enough to vote for. The top votes for financial & personal reasons, the bottom votes for religious reasons, the smartest thing fiscal conservatives ever did was woo the uneducated religious as they vote in numbers, and do what they are told. They disregard the many conflicts in the christian faith & republican policy platform in a simple manner, by not thinking about them.

“City folk” wont matter, as always the country will come down to 3 or 4 states like FL, OH, MI, PA as the electoral college makes them important. Until this country switches to a true popular election it is all a joke. Why bother voting in NY for presidential elections if you know the dems are going to win? The undercard races are the only ones that matter in states that are solidly blue & red.

^thats the problem for Trump - he’s targeting middle/lower income whites. Fiscal conservatives who care foremost about taxes won’t vote for him.

welcome to libertarianism. the cure for all that ails ya.
