Is it ok to skip BB??

I am planning to do only EOC from the CFAI books and skip the BB due to lack of time.I hope skipping the BB s won’t hurt much. However i need your feed backs.

*I am using Schweser to study for this exam.

I can’t stress enough the importance of BB examples for Level II. In my first attempt, I also had skipped them due to lack of time and failed with a band 10.

Try to find time out for them, especially for highly-weighted areas like FRA and Equity.

Thanks…so i will do BB examples for FRA+EQUITY

Everything’s OK to skip if you pass.

Nothing’s OK to skip if you fail.

I must be blanking this morning. Whats BB

I’m skipping BBs for L2. Having just done L1 in Dec, I’m on such a short time frame I simply don’t have the time. The EOCs seem to be pretty comprehensive so having a mastery of those seemingly would be enough. I can’t imagine that the BBs in and of themselves could be the difference in passing or failing as it’s the same concepts as EOC. In any event, I’ve not sat for L2 yet so I guess I’ll find out.

He’s a blues guitarist; surname King.

(It also abbreviates “blue boxes”.)

I 100% agree with you

I sat level 1 in december as well. I dont recommend skipping the BB’s. If you’re skipping them dont skip the FRA section of BB’s at least. I’ve done FRA, Derivatives, Quant, Ethics.

There were questions in FRA and derivatives that were definitely not in the EOC questions that were in the BB’s.

Other books I think is not as important to go through the BB"s but I wouldnt skip those.

Did you studied the EOC and BB for CFAL1 as well?

I donot know about others but i want to complete the below mentioned things 1st (and then perhaps if time permits move on too BBs)

1)Schweser books (2 times atleast)

2)Schweser q bank.(i know it is not that good…but still does a decent job of making you learn certain key concepts.)

3)EOCs from CFAI and Schweser

4)CFA sample papers and mock exams (2012-2014)

5)Schweser volume 1 and 2 (in exam conditions)

I am currently in 3rd stage of my preparation.

If you can answer the EOC questions no problem then you don’t need to read the BB!

For CFA I — No. I didnt even read the texts for that. Barely even read schweser. Qbank after Qbank and EOC questions on CFA. DIdnt even do half the CFA EOC questions.

But this exam is different.

This time I’m doing the mock exam questions as I do the sections. I completed FRA and Deriviatives and when I felt I knew it inside out I did the Mock exam questions for those sections. DIdnt feel like panicking when it was mock exam time. For those sections I wouldn’t have got all the questions correct if I didnt do BB and EOC. Derivatives is pretty easy if you do everything. Same questions over and over.

someone had a nice cup of tea this morning!! smiley

+1 with nana, if you can answer the EOC it means you understand the concepts and there is therefore no need to go over the BB. Anyway Schweser also has its BB, so does Elan. They are mostly rewrites of the official ones.
