June 2015 Mock Exams

I was on the same boat, 65% on the first mock (one week ago), now have finished the second one and score is better -70%.

Does anybody else found that mock exam’s ethics is tough?

I found ethics in the mock to be incredibly hard and a little too cute. Not having an updated org chart = violation. Using the word guarantee (usually a no-no in the industry) is ok. I hope the hairs aren’t split too fine when answering questions on Saturday.

Oh, and did any one have trouble with question 55 on the PM CFAI Mock. “Based on Exhibit 1, assume the inflation surprise it 1%…et al.” You need to also look at exhibit 2 as well to answer the quesiton. I ended up doing that and got the question rigght, but why refrence a specific exhibit and not mention the other. THAT is what makes me nervious come Saturday.

That “guarantee” wording got me.

I think the CFAI are aware of all of these issues. They probably run a statistical test on each question and if a fair amount of candidates get a question wrong, maybe they discard it?

I have also heard the CFAI discards some questions based on the percentage correct. I wonder how many are thrown out of the 120 total? A lot I hope.

its amazing to think how many people will fail because of 1 or 2 wrong answers or pass because they got lucky with a view guesses

I wouldn’t say “discarded”, but the weights might change.

In prior years, candidates spent a lot of time focusing on the main topics that would be heavily tested. This year the CFAI widened the weighting range of less heavily tested subjects. As a result, as candidates we’re spreading ourselves thin trying to achieve passable competency in each subject area rather than skimming or skipping topic areas altogether. My guess is that the minimum passing score this year declines, or the pass rate declines, or both decline. Preferably, the MPS score declines and the pass rate remains the same.

Anyway, this is my last post before the exam. Good luck anyone.

I also thought this was kind of stupid given that the compliance officer had given one month’s notice and therefore seemed to still be working there…

My god it was hard especially ethics! Thank you to everyone who contributed to this thread, it was such a relief!
