lets talk about salary expectations

maybe your in the wrong firm. i would find a firm that appreciates the charter and is willing to pay for it.

In this market, I’m not expecting much, aside from a congratulatory pat on the back from my current employer. I’d love to transition into investment research, but the reality is that it’s 100 applicants for every 1 open position, and those without research experience and a Top 10 school on their resume (i.e. me) are on the bottom of the pile. Truth be told, I’m just grateful to have a job right now. It’s looking pretty grim out there.

Haven’t received charter yet, but didn’t get anymore more than a congrats from most after passing LIII. At my shop, the charter is something a large portion of the analysts and managers have so it’s not really a huge deal. They all know how difficult it is to press through all 3 exams, but it is by no means unique here.

I work in Central/Eastern Europe (think Poland, Czech, Bulgaria, etc.). Local+US education.

My firm appreciaties deal generation and execution. CFA contributes meaningfully to neither. Not really surprising, since its primary application is in research/asset management.

Too much work. I prefer asking CEO’s why their margins suck and reading 100-page board presentations.

This is a depressing thread. I’m not expecting an immediate increase in salary, but am confident that it will be extremely beneficial 3-5 years down the road.

i’m LIII and still unemployed being a recent graduate. Does this mean when i get a job i’ll miss out on all the automatic remuneration raises?- or should I negotiate this prior to startign? or maybe 1 yr in? Obviously with little work exp. i’ll get paid entry level $, but theres a huge disparitiy my education and work experience- i’m about to be a fully qualified actuary and candidnate in L3 CFA exam.

Am getting lunch – probably deli sandwhiches and coke – in a conference room in my office. That’s it. No jokes.
