i mean the bobcats was a $278m investment in 2010 that is valued at $780m in 2017. that’s a ~15% CAGR, not bad imo. its actually more than half of his net worth. rofl the valuation is a bit dubious though, i cant imagine anyone paying that much for the bobcats. lol IPO to get price discovery please.

I don’t think this is an expert turnaround by MJ, so much as it is a rising tide that lifted all the boats. Even the Clippers are worth what, $2 billion?
Steve Ballmer paid $2B for the Clippers, so $780MM doesn’t seem all that unreasonable. I get it that LA and Charlotte are much different markets, but the Clippers aren’t the Lakers.
I don’t think Steve Ballmer should be used as a model for successful acquisitions.
