Lol! Nice thing about the IDW is the absence of “hero worship” leaves space to find these characters both brilliant some of the time and absolutely ridiculous at others. Very freeing. You do you Jordan!
Moparman mentioned Jonathan Haidt, and I’d second that. I’ve been listening to his “Righteous Mind” book on Audible on my daily half-hour commute. Very thought-provoking.
I’m also the only member of his Heterodox Academy at my university. So I’m a bit of a fanboy.
Looooooool! He said “it wasn’t talking to Sam Harris… it was the CIDER”. Omg…Hahaha… if you have listened to the famous Harris vs Peterson “what is real” debate then this is even funnier.
So…now I kinda feel bad for laughing at this clip. I got the chance to hear the FULL conversation and the context is that he and his daughter suffer from autoimmune issues and depression (severe in the daughter’s case). That changes the legitimacy of the the kind of response he had from a slight deviation from a diet that was centered on treating these issues. His daughter, Mikhalia Peterson, has a pretty incredible story that goes into more depth on the diet experimentation and extreme responses to new food additions when she was recently on the Joe Rogan Experience.
Pepper, at first I found it amusing that you find these funny clips out of context that seem ridiculous…but now it kinda pisses me off. This is the very reason most of the “IDW” is so misunderstood. Either fully listen to the long form conversions or shut up about it.
well, I have to give Helen Lewis credit for not crying!
Peterson (at 1:08:30) “Im not hearing what you think. Im hearing how you are able to represent the ideology you where taught. It’s not interesting because I don’t know anything about you. I could replace you with someone else who thinks the same way. You are not here. That’s what it means. It’s NOT pleasant”
Bravo! Peterson destroys his opponent while simultaneously (through describing his exact opposite) puts into words what I like about him so much.
In other news, in Joe Rogan’s latest interview with Eric Weinstein he recoins the IDW as the “Intellectual Dork Web”
