Seriously, just go on yahoo local, and find all the firms in your area who are in the field you’re looking for, search “asset management”, and just tell them, you’re a l2 candidate, and you’re interested in an unpaid temp role, there is no risk for them, and if it doesnt work out, they can just move on.

I just started an advisory firm last week. I have very small tiny AUM. I don’t think I can pay you. But if you are looking for equity research experience based on value investing principles, let me know. As I informed you, I just started last week and I have not decided to hire anyone yet or not. Thanks

Yup, been there & done it. All firms in a 50 mile radius with entry level positions and not a single reply. I also typed a list of small-med size asset management firms…most of them say that i have impressive skills and academic background but they have a better match and all that other B.S they say. But as i said, i will keep trying, i will not just ask them that i am willing to take an unpaid position, maybe they may respond.

I dont care much about pay, for me its more about the experience. Maybe we can find a mutual fit. My email is gm.nj234@gmail.com or give me your contact info. and we can talk. thanks

Baps. Hope it works for you. As one guy mentioned start doing analysis work on your own. I’m trying to break in still (finally got an interview Aug 23rd) and this seems like my next step if the interview doesn’t work out. I’ve been trying for months (CFA, networking, applications). In the meantime go to the local temp agency (Robert Haft, Soloman Page) see what type of placement they can get you. I’ve been working for a F500 in the Travel Industry and have just recently switched from Peon Level -1 to a mediocre analyst role. Spin your experience, ask the people who do the interesting work if you can help them with a project. Try to make it work for you. If worst comes to worst your smart and the company they place you in will hire you. Stay for 2 years then you’ll be an ‘expert’ in the industry and should have a good shot at a top b-school. Keep hopes alive. It took me months to get this and I remember the feelings of anxiety about my future.
