Number of Attempts at Level 2 ?

This is my first attempt. I won’t take it again if I fail. CFA Institute will have to get by without me.

just like psriniva, my first try, i gave it 100%, if i fail, its goodnight CFA…

2010: I panicked the night before and didn’t sleep… Took a sleeping pill that didn’t work… Band 9 Fail. 2011: Feel ok about the exam but I guess you never know… I found the exam didn’t require any knowledge of the most challenging material. But instead focused on ‘basic’ material with the difficulty coming from the use of cryptic language and various ‘tricks’ inserted throughout the exam. The biggest lesson I learned last Saturday was that time spent becoming very familiar with the ‘basic’ material and doing practice exams will be infinitely more productive than spending time memorizing Treynor Black for example. Good luck to everyone - I hope you’re all still getting drunk everyday like me… alcoholism is harder than it looks…

1st attempt, and I don’t feel confident about passing. I’ll never quit though, my job sucks too bad to quit…

1st attempt. I first thought I should pass. But after finding that 6 of my guesses are all wrong, now I’m so freaking out.

3rd attempt. Don’t remember by how much I failed before but I yhink last year was a band 8 and I really screwed the morning paper. So i am hoping for the better this time around given that I was quite comfortable with the morning paper although the afternoon one I found a bit more difficult. But with CFA you never know. Now, if I do not succeed, I’ll probably do it again. Met a few people at the exam centre and it was their 4th/5th attempt. So I guess I’ll give it yet another try. Now let’s not think about this no more. We’ll pass!

I registed L2 twice but didn’t take the exam.@It’s a much bigger failure than fail of exam. So stupid I am.

We have a guy in the Bank who has taken 5 L-2 attempts till now. We call him L-2 Perpetual anniuty contributor  BoL for the pass though

2006: Failed (pre-fail band) 2007: Registered, but did not take 2008: Band 9 2009: Band 6 2010: Band 6 2011: Best feeling I’ve had (studied ~500 hrs, read all 3,319 pages of CFAI material and did all the sample exams) The frustrating thing is that I have scored >70% on every section at one time or another. I’ve just never been able to put enough sections together on a single exam to pass. If I don’t pass this is probably it. I’m frustrated by the exam, the range of testing material is too broad. I think I did well this year, but mad that some material I know cold (accruals, put/call parity, corporate governance) was no where to be found.

I’m 100% the same with you

This was my first attempt at the Level 2 exam and I feel very confident. Some of the people I talked to at the centre told me that the exam was relatively easier this time…hope this doesn’t have any effect on the pass rate.

This is an excellent thread cause years of experience are accumulated here. Out of couriosity those of you who tried / passed / did not pass / resit etc, what advise would you give in terms of STYDYING MATERIAL. Should we focus on CFAI material or try to focus on other eg Schweser and then try also questions from CFAI material as well as other exam questions? I am finding it so difficult to read the CFAI material… But then again I am reading from time comments that one should rely on this for L2 instead of other sources. What is your experienced opinion on this? Thank you.

thank you daveyc18 - this sounds like a rather appropriate approach to tackle this!!! Much appreciated.

Wow. This is an interesting thread. Hopefully I will be studying level 2 after I get my results back. I am seriously impressed with the people who have done this 3+ times. I hope you all get it - that’s determination.

Passed    How did everyone else fare?
