PASSED! Alternative Investments - - * Corporate Finance - * - Derivatives - * - Economics * - - Equity Investments - - * Ethical & Professional Standards - - * Financial Reporting & Analysis - * - Fixed Income Investments - * - Portfolio Management - - * Quantitative Methods - * - Seems rather borderline actually. Definitely didn’t destroy it.
I posted earlier that I didn’t pass, Band 10. I plan on retaking in December for sure. I am actually kinda glad that I will be going through level 1 material again, a great way to set a good foundation for level 2 and 3. Keep that chin up and grind harder.
That’s the spirit!
Passed!
Barely managed to scrape through!

Thanks. Even though i just started posting here, i have lurked around for a bit. Your advice was helpful.
On to the next one.
Yay!!! I PASSED!! You… I like you.
Probably one of the few people here with a properly formatted table lol.
For those that have failed: I failed L1, band 6 the first time I took it. I studied more efficiently the next time around and passed with all sections greater than 70. I then passed Level 2 on the first attempt (killed it actually) and feel pretty good about L3 results coming out.
In conclusion, don’t give up - just because you failed or had a terrible band doesn’t mean you won’t do well going forward.
Tom
Passed with everything greater than 70
PASSED … by a narrow margin, I’m sure. Most of my scores were in the 51%-70% range. A handful were >70%. I only had one below 50% (FRA). I keep refreshing my inbox for a retraction email. I had put forth a good effort, but I thought that I was going to come up a little short.
Phew… Just skimmed through I guess, between 51%-70% in most other than derivatives and equity. Thank you Analyst Forum, thank you members and a special thanks to S2000. Looking forward to face the real beast now, Level 2 here I come.
Passed!!!

I must be as marginal pass as it can possibly get. Studied around 5 months for it while doing MBA part-time alongside work, which no doubt had impact on scores, but nevertheless really happy about the pass: Q# Topic Max Pts <=50% 51%-70% >70% - Alternative Investments 8 * - - - Corporate Finance 20 - * - - Derivatives 12 - * - - Economics 24 - * - - Equity Investments 24 - - * - Ethical & Professional Standards 36 - * - - Financial Reporting & Analysis 48 - * - - Fixed Income Investments 28 * - - - Portfolio Management 12 - - * - Quantitative Methods 28 - * -
Passed with >70% in all but derivatives.
For those studying, my debrief: Like me, if you think of yourself starting as a *total* stranger to the CFA material, hope this helps. Put in about 250+ hours in the last couple of months, with merely listening to S2000magician’s (did we hear some often-funny self-deprecative genius camp bell?) and other Schweser instructor’s videos- over and over! Schweser Q-bank and Elan 11th hour guide were last minute saviors. Though the Elan exams were unsettling, they helped me shed an all-Schweser mindset. In hindsight, I wish I’d read more of the CFAI books - which I plan to make up for, big time, come 2014 for Level 2.
Didn’t think it would happen… Passed!!
