It doesn’t have the misogynistic overtones in the UK that it does in the US so it’s mostly used between men, sometimes as an insult, sometimes as a compliment.
Does twat have the same effect in the US? why do people say it like “twot”?
I rarely hear people use the word twat although it is considered a derogatory term it doesn’t carry the same weight as c*nt. I think twat is like calling someone dumb in a silly way whereas c*nt is like calling someone a stupid POS.
It is relative to region and audience but if you are in the states then c*ck is not used in a derogatory fashion the way c*nt is and c*nt is especially derogatory when used to describe or address a female.
+1 The c-word is so offensive here that pretty much the only time we hear it said aloud is when we’re watching GoT or some other show or movie originating in the UK. If you stood in the middle of Times Square and yelled “You’re such a c0ck (or more likely d!ickhead)” barely anyone would pay attention. If, however, you yelled “You’re such a cvnt”, time would nearly stop.
I said it to a girl once maybe 5 years ago, a longtime childhood friend. She literally did not speak to me for over a week and I had to apologize through a third party to even begin to reopen communication. Then I got a stern lecture from multiple people.
In all honesty, I’ve told me wife she’s acting like a c*nt multiple times in the last year or so when it’s deserved. But I always handle the aftermath by essentially either telling her if she doesn’t like it then she shouldn’t act like one or that I said she was acting like one (emphasis on acting). I mean, it’s bad but it also depends on the audience. If you say someone is one that you either don’t know well or become overly apologetic about it will be used against you in hammer fashion.
Not surprised c*nt is popular in the UK. Our main office was in the UK, the best trader was from there and our risk manager worked there for a few years before taking the job of running a new office in Canada. As all the hot shots were using that word, people just started imitating just like children.
We have a two year old. These scenarios usually play out after the kid’s asleep. Look my wife is great, but there are times where she’s an unreasonable psychopath by her own admission. Besides, words only have the power you give them. It’s a personal decision to hold the term up on a pedestal and make it a big deal. I can easily see how the same term might carry entirely different meanings or weights used by two different people in different scenarios. I simply thought it was the best way to describe her behavior and stated as much. So sue me.
What new fucking profanity blocker? We debated the shit out of using grown up words on AF years ago. Now I hear we’re getting cock slapped with a filter? We must be a bunch of god damn pussies to need suck a cunty thing. Son of a bitch. That really grind my gonads.
Edit: Well, looks like I’m going to the Feedback Forum.
Edit 2: To the Feedback Forum I went, and it appears the filter doesn’t work on the subject of posts.
