Playoff Bracket

So what do you guys make of the LB who got the last interception and kneeled down on the ground? At the time, I thought “Atta boy. Don’t Cowboy it and fumble it right back to their offense. Now, all GB needs to do is get a first down and this one is pretty much over. And surely with Rodgers/Lacy, they can get one first down.”

It was actually the strong safety, Morgan Burnett. I thought that he should’ve kept running, but didn’t see a good camera shot to determine what he saw coming at him. He’s a good player (2 sacks, INT, fumble recovery, 8 tackles or more yesterday). Now get a first down…yeah…pretty tough to do against that Seattle defense.

Mostly yes, but some players make a big difference. No more Percy Harvin for Seattle. He’s always been a thorn to the Packers.

The Packers lost their starting right tackle and tight end in that Week 1 game, to which Cliff Avril immediately took advantage by sacking Rodgers on consecutive plays and scoring a safety. That game was competitive until that point. Those players have returned, plus our rookies (key contributors at center, tight end, wide receiver, and free safety) have matured. Better team now than then.

Call it a choke, call it Seattle waking up, either way GB blew it. They weren’t ready for the fake FG, which turned the game IMO, and their receivers couldn’t catch the ball on key 3rd downs. Also, how does GB not take a shot at Richard Sherman late in the game when he was so clearly playing with just one arm?

I really didn’t understand the schedule. Why was a west coast game the early game and an east coast game the late game?

^The NFC had the 2-6:30 game set in stone a long time ago, so they would have had that time slot whether it was played in New York, Chicago, Phoenix, or San Francisco. Ditto the AFC. It just so happened that it was “backwards” from the way the sun sets.

^ Interesting. I wonder why they do that? Does Troy have a curfew or something?

I’m sure they have the entire playoff schedule set in stone several months in advance so that the networks can get their programming scheduled. They may not know what teams will play in what slot, but I bet they already know what next year’s playoff schedule is.

And they schedule the early championship game for 3:00 p.m. (Eastern) because NFL bylaws prohibit teams from starting a game prior to noon (local time). That’s why you never see a West Coast game at 1:00 (Eastern).

They alternate between AFC and NFC every year. Next year, the NFC game will start at 6:30 and the AFC game will start at 3, regardless of who is playing. It’s been like that for a long time.

I’m guessing they are doing that due to the networks fighting for the primetime slot (6:30). Both networks pay big money and by having the games alternate (CBS has the AFC, Fox has the NFC), it makes it fair for both networks.

Bird’s eye view of the interception. It’s easy to second guess but with Rodgers and Lacy this isn’t a terrible idea, though it looks pretty bad given how much room he had to run.

Aye, I think Burrnett possibly could’ve gotten into field goal range before being cut-off. Just one of the many F-ups at the end. The more I think about it, the more I resent the gutless playcalling of McCarthy in that game. Uncharacteristic of him. Props to Seattle for “never saying die” and making it happen.

^ I’m glad when gutless coaches get beat. The same happened to John Fox in the playoffs 2 years ago. He had the ball in Manning’s hand, but decided to run 3 straight times to run off the clock. 1 Hail Mary later, he loses the game.
