I hope you are joking. How do you explain the 3 year gap in resume? Well. . . I’m too good for most jobs. So I figured not to do anything until one comes along? lol
I’ve learned never to take things how I’d normally would on this forum. It’s the most confusing forum I’ve ever been on. Some interesting personalities here ha ha
You guys might never have worked in Asia. You can have an MBA or whatever and you still get treated like the teaboy. There is no path to management other than “wasta” in these places. Therefore making yourself look small and unimportant by getting a low level job is worse than actually being unemployed in the minds of many bourgeious Arabs and Asians.
really? … this right here made me tear up a bit even Bchad is tunring on me? WHat the hell happened here!!
ok I’m going to adress this right now because I think a lot of my sarcasm / humor has somehow been lost on everyone. Firstly - the tread header. This was a complete play on the newbie CFA vs MBA can’t get a job nonsense that we love so much. I’m NOT actually freaking out people. I’m fine… really. Now… continuing on…
I know, it’s one of the things I genuinly despise about the Asian / Arab culture. But as far as I know he’s not in Asia, so it’s a moot point. In certain tribal societies grunting loudly asserts dominance, but I wouldn’t advise it for an interview in the US. It’s largely this class system and failure to roll up their sleaves that has China and India each still trying to match our TOTAL GDP with equivalent natural resources and three times the population despite a 2 thousand year head start. They’re growing fast?!? Who cares! On a per capita level thy’re still miles behind as a nation. The only reason they are rising recently is because much of their population has embraced a willingness to roll up their sleaves and do what it takes without complaint, they’re not rising ascending because of MBA students too picky to take a job.
Uh these countries are rising because for most of their history as independent nations they’ve been following stupid ideologies of socialism and communism (thank you Nehru and Mao), and prior to that were subjects of foreign imperial powers that deliberately impoverished them. It has nothing to do with the “class system”, and before you start, the “caste system” either. Once these bottlenecks are removed, they are steadily moving forward.
ChickenTikka has an image of India created in the 2000s, but me and generations of older indians remember how India used to be before.
Palintir, I wasn’t really talking about India. Don’t get so fucking touchy. Notice I said the word “wasta.” Is that an Indian word? No.
Seriously, go to Dubai. Saudi. Any of these places. You’ll meet a bunch of bored, not so smart or not so hard working, sons of somebody mildly important. They usually hang out cruising in their tricked out cars. These guys are completely unemployable. They only want to be the CEO or nothing else. They’re a hell of a lot of fun though.
Are you basing that on India’s decreasing share of world income in the late 1800s/early 1900s? If so, that might be misleading, given that the Industrial Revolution was happening in the West at that time.
