Thanks God and now L2. I heard this level is very hard, so need to think abt a good strategy

@jordanwang07: Bands (in simple words): They divide all those candidates who unfortunately did not pass into 10 categories, or bands. Band 10 is closest to passing. Band 1 is farthest. So someone who scored Band 9 was closer to passing than someone who scored, say Band 5. Those who pass are not divided into any bands.

All sections >70%. I’ll share the strategy I’ve used in case anyone is interested: 1. Start as early as you can. Ideally, you should finish with readings and EOC questions in first 3 months 2. Take hand-written notes along the process and re-read them from cover to cover at least once in 2 weeks 3. In some cases in makes sense to solve EOC problems using Excel or similar software. Once you’ve solved a problem and checked with the answer, edit you solution so that it looks as graphical as possible. In future it might help you to grasp and memorize the logic behind the solution if you forget it. 3. In the last month leading to the exam, take as many mocks as you can get your hands on (assuming, their price is adequate) and focus on sections and concepts in which you repeatedly make similar mistakes (it’s sometimes reasonable to return to the CFAI curriculum) Best of luck to everyone

passed! used elan plus CFAI end of chapter questions. Also, people who fail are probably less likely to post in this thread than those who passed.

Passed; above 70% in all but Alternative Investments ((51-70%)). Put in the 250+ hrs, and it wasn’t bad at all. For those who didn’t, just make sure and put in your hours, and you should do better next time. Oh, and I only used the CFA materials, save for the schweser mock exam which was complete garbage.

passed. +70% in all sections.

Passed >70% in all sections. From Boston

Hi everyone, I’m from Tallinn, Estonia, but wrote the exam in Jurmala, Latvia because it was the closest available test center (about 350 km away). I work on a multi-asset sales&trading desk, so most of the material about financial instruments (equity, debt, derivatives) came easy to me. I had to work hard on quant, FRA and Econ. Unfortunately, I still “failed” Economics (my only score below 70%). Here’s the breakdown: Q# Topic Max Pts <=50% 51%-70% >70% - Alternative Investments 8 - - * - Corporate Finance 20 - - * - Derivatives 12 - - * - Economics 24 - * - - Equity Investments 24 - - * - Ethical & Professional Standards 36 - - * - Financial Reporting & Analysis 48 - - * - Fixed Income Investments 28 - - * - Portfolio Management 12 - - * - Quantitative Methods 28 - - * Congratulations to the successful candidates. To those who failed - don’t give up. I was registered to take the exam in Dec 10, but decided not to go, because I just wasn’t ready. As many people have said, it’s all about preparation. My prep plan: read all CFAI material, went through CFAI EOC questions twice, did 2100 Schweser QBank questions, completed the official CFAI mock exam and 3 Schweser practice exams averaging 78%. I’m not sure how many hours all of that took, but it was probably over 400. It will be interesting to see if I have enough motivation to go through this again for Level II.
