Passed Level 2 on 1st try. Passed Level 1 in December. Studied about 200-250 hours including a CFALA class at USC (for motivation and to stay on track). Studied about the same amount for Level 1 but did a Stalla course for that (again for motivation and to stay on track). I work as the head of mortgage research at an MBS valuation and analysis company. I have a programming background but don’t have a degree.

FINALLY PASSED! After my 3rd attempt, I finally slayed the beast. The first time I had a band 8 fail, then a band 6 last year, which was so hard for me to take in, and finally I slayed the f-ing beast this year. YEAHHHHH!

What surprised me was my FRA score as well as Econ and QM. I thought I nailed all 3 of them. I guess I didn’t. Oh well, I’m just happy that I passed!

  • Your indicated grade: Pass - Materials: Schweser notes/exams + CFAI Mocks - Hours studied: estimating ~200-250 - Attempts: 1st - Your 40/60/80 score is: 69.0% - Your minimum score is: 60.0% - Your maximum score is: 83.5% Relatively low range given I got no <50 scores Ps i think 60 is a bit low of an estimate for the 51-70 range (agree its mid point) but i think scores tend to be clustered around a higher mean

I’m hoping to glean a best-fit for the 40/60/80 if I get enough responses. Watch this space in a couple of weeks.

Is it just me or does it seem like a lot of people did badly in Derivatives?

I also noticed that. Most people bombed Ethics and Derivatives and still passed (am one of them). Got a feeling at least 2 Derivatives questions were chucked out for being unfair and at least 3 from Ethics. Just a hunch
