CFA Institute will never take any ownership of accepting their mistake however genuine your case is. Take my instance, last year got band 9 with below scores. I went for a Retabulationand nothing happened.

Quant, Eco > 70

CF, PM and Ethics < 50

Rest between 50 to 70

This year I failed with below score

CF, PM, FRA, Quant, Alt & Derivatives, FI > 70

Ethics, Equity between 50 to 70

Eco < 50

I know they have made a mistake in grading my score. I know it. But, I also know Retabulation is not going to help. They will never accept their mistake.

Anyways, I don’t intend to continue the program anymore. The uncertainty and inconsistency of grading scores is too much for me to take.

Do you mind sharing your scores from result page?

If it is succesful the institute pays fee for next level and makes you sign a NDA.

As they provide no detail on the black box of marking, their competency is aggressively protected.

And under an NDA, unlikely to hear about it online…

How long did your retabulation results took to come out. I received my mail on 28th August. Should I expect their results any time soon.?!

Just wondering, how did you break up your scores between Alternative Investments and Derivatives when the CFAI has shown the results for these 2 subjects together as 20% weightage (10% for AI and 10% for Derivatives)

Dude, just because you failed does mean that the grading process is inconsistent and uncertain. I’m not saying that CFAI doesn’t make errors but saying that the grading is “inconsistent” is a pretty bold statement. The probability of getting a “fail” when actually passing is minuscule. Plain and simple.

the chances of getting a fail changed is pretty much 0%. take the $100 and give it to charity imo
