Savings & Loan Primer?

I understand what you’re saying. Fortunately, or unfortunately, most of the institutions I dealt with were never involved in C&I or asset backed lending. Most of the loans I’ve looked at were residential or commercial real estate, which basically boiled down to an argument on whether the property values were justified. If not already provided, we usually asked for financials, rent rolls or anything else that would support the income generating aspects for a property. Classifications were tricky to deal with, since regulators usually classify a loan as a pass, special mention, substandard, doubtful or an outright loss. Bank management and loan officers always took a more positive light in this aspect, which is not surprising.
