Did another couple of exams. Before: Exam 1 AM 82 Exam 1 PM 87 Exam 2 AM 83 Exam 2 PM 83 Since: Exam 3 AM 87 Exam 3 PM 87 Exam 4 AM 80 Exam 4 PM 87 I’m averaging 14.5% above the magic 70% mark, and 17.5% above the average for people who have taken the test and entered in their results online (which is VERY useful, highly recommended). Despite this, there are a lot of areas of weakness which I need to cover and passing this bastard is still VERY iffy. Areas of weakness: International asset pricing Residual income models M+A stuff (some of it) Private company valuation Pension accounting is a little hazy Alternative asset valuation in general Derivatives of all types! I definitely believe that the actual exam is significantly harder than these practice tests. I’m doing the CFA mock AM tomorrow, we’ll see.

Anything you are basing this on? I have actually heard the opposite, and several people who I have talked to who barely broke 70 passed the actual exam with the majority above 70% and the rest between 50% and 70%. If I were you, I would relax, brush up on what you are weak on, and just work on retention of formulas and the like.

Well, I’m basing this on several people I’ve talked to, who have said that for Level II the real thing was harder than Schweser tests. There’s some evidence for this tool the trend on this forum seems to have people scoring several percent higher on Schweser tests than they do on the mock. Doesn’t mean it isn’t useful, but I’m shooting for a comfortable margin of error.

Just Finished Book 2 Exam 1 am session Damn that was hard. ome of the most random questions. The econ and Hedge fund vignette destroyed me. Got 1 43/60 or 71.667

correction got a 70 not 71.667%. Seeing the avg (58%) makes me feel better i guess. Seemed like eery vignette had some obscure questions. Not sure what to make of it.

Got only one question right on the hedge fund vignette. This exam is probably an outlier. Just pray that the real exam won’t be this eccentric.

Schweser Book 1 Exam 1: 73% Schweser Book 1 Exam 2: 80% I have not done any EOC from CFAI yet, and wonder if I should for FRA and Equities. For the ones that scored in high 70s and low 80s, have you done EOC yet? Thanks

Took the live mock and the 2010 CFAI mock. 2011 mock this weekend. I anticipate it will be a beast. This forum has so many over-achievers. I’m done this website, best of luck everyone! By the way, to those who score greater than 80 on every exam and are stressed about passing… Get a grip and stop being such a pansy

Maybe the exam asks a lot of questions on material you happen to be weak on, or you’ve got a cold that day and mentally aren’t firing on all cylinders. The goal of practice and having a large buffer is to reduce the chances of you failing if things don’t fall your way.

Are you guys scoring in high 70s / low 80s from the first time you take the exam??? This is really weird…

Like grumble said, these mocks are just good for practice. If you take a look at older posts you will people who were averaging on mid 70s and yet failed the real thing, while there those that were averaging low 60s and passed. It’s confusing as he’ll, but I guess it boils down to the fact that if you get stumped in one or two vignettes, your pretty much done. good luck! Well all need it…

Just wondering, volume 2, exam 1, am, question 15. Why do they multiply change in revenues by .04 to get capex? I ended up getting the question right as it was the only negative option… but if all 3 options were negative I might not have taken that answer so its good to know but the book doesnt explain it.

Magnitude of the material is huge, they cannot ask all materials in the curriculum and rarely anybody maters all material so 80% hard work, another 20% of luck. If being tested on material well understood, everything will be fine, if being tested on the material happen to be the weakness, it is pretty bad.

Another round of mocks completed today: Schweser volume 1 Exam 3 AM: 85% Exam 3 PM: 92% ill try and work on book 2 now, im not sure if ill be able to get through all the mocks AND revise all the necessary stuff at the same time… now i wish i started doing mocks a little earlier…
