Secret of Your Success

here’s something that worked well for me - i photocopied all of the summary pages from all the schweser chapters and made booklets out of them. i added key points and formulas to them that i thought were important, and i spent a lot of time just soaking in these pages. it’s the same theory as those people in school who make one page with tiny writing of everything they need to know for the test - seeing as much info as possible at once really helps you to retain it.

This is what worked for me: CFA books and investopedia.com only.i never used stella or schweser. $ 600 was too much for me.for the last 2 months i never used to have heavy supa, just have a light meal and study for 4 hrs during week days,5 hrs during weekends.always target one study session per week.leave one month to review the books.go thru the material 2 or 3 times if u can.I can assure u its only the CFA books that worked for me.i passed first time.i have business admin degree.no qbank no nothing to supplement.I live in Lusaka Zambia so i had to travel to Jo’burg to write my exam.i went by bus covering a distance of about 1800 kms.Pray to GOD before the exam.ALL THE BEST in your june 2009 exam.

i just tried to read everything again and again…if i know a particular thing well…it didnt take me long…and if it took long then it is worth reading…i must have read all the text atleast 7-8 times…surprisingly …i didnt do any mock…but passed with >70% in 8/10

For me personally (being a borderline and most unlikely candidate) I can’t emphasize enough how time is against you. You’re best chances at succeeding is to make sure you know your FSA and Ethics back and forth. The strategy is vested in the fact that certain subjects just do not matter as much. I wish that I had not procrastinated as much as I did. I would advise a steady study regimen. I found that Schweser was extremely helpful, take advantage of your resources. Those whom are strapped for cash, listen carefully. The test is a matter of endurance, knowledge and access to resources. Now is not the time to skip out. Make sure to find the method that is most effective to your learning. Definetely talk to yourself in every occasion to reinforce what you have learnt. Don’t take for granted that you have completed a reading. All of the material is fair game. Just be smart about it. You will succeed if you really want it. Once again. Persistence pays off.

I don’t think any of that is to complicated, just learn the material, practice the material, revise your understanding, and practice again…repeat as much as possible. Thanks for the great advice again, these posts really help formulate a strategy.
