session 6

I felt that reading the Schweser, then doing the Schweser class, and finally working through the problems in the CFA curriculum helped me to understand the material. I think the point is to really go over SS6 since it will probably be a big part of the exam. It’s worth it to put the extra time in!

Thanks man.

Can you please send it to my email f55781@hotmail.com

How do the readings compare? Is MultiNational harder than Intercorporate? Pensions? Which one is most difficult?

Multi national is like remembering a bunch of things and applying them. Pension one seemed straight to me. Regarding Intercorporate investments… I found the equity method and consolidation relatively straightforward but the financial investment one was not decent as a lot of information to be retained. Especially related to reclassification.

I like how Andrew Holmes graded the sections. Multinational is the hardest, just because you have to memorize the differences between current and temporal and memorize how to decide on current or temporal based on the local currency/ functional currency/ presentation currency. It’s a royal b*tch. Next hardest is Intercorporate, while I’d personally put it as equal to Multinational, a lot of people seem to have grasped this one quicker than I have. Pensions is the easiest, it’s straightforward and intutive other than the whole smoothing issue of expected return on assets for IFRS vs. actual return for GAAP.

There’s no way around it, this is the hardest SS in the whole CFA Curriculum, at least according to Andrew Holmes, I have no idea what L III has in store, but from what I’ve heard the material is basic, just tested in a hard manner. You just gotta grind it out slowly and steadily…

I would appreciate if I can get a copy of the spreadsheet. My e-mail is: gaaristizabal@comcast.net Thanks
