Should prostitution be legalized??

I need to prepare a powerpoint presentation on this topic.

Please give me some valid inputs.

Will our input be cited in your presentation? If not, do your own homework.

I will surely give credits to every one.

George Carlin said “Why is it illegal to sell something that is perfectly legal to give away?”

Ok then. Legal prostitution increases the tax base.

+1

Prostitution is like alcohol and drugs…it will continue ,legal or not does not matter.

I already have this point in my ppt.

Disagree. I think you can protect the women from prosecution while going after the users. Its exploitive and legal prostitution gives cover to more exploitive or illict arrangements.

Another reason it should be legal is police resources can better be utilized. Instead of trying to control what a consenting man and women do, they can go after some real crimes.

Yes. It will make it safer for the workers who are mostly women.

nope…will add another IAS: accounting for prostitution services…

Yes

+1.

My cousin who is a CA wants to audit the financial statements of red light companies.

Protect the sex workers by not pushing them to the edges of the cities and darkest alleys, spread less desease because you can make them mandatory check ups

Yes, yes it should. Now I have to go back and change my response to what I would do if my salary doubled.

Prostitution is a usd 800 billion industry world wide.

If this industry is legalized world wide…then there will be flood of job opportunities for mba, cfas, cpas etc…

If legal, folks could pay via credit card and earn airline miles and other rewards. The phrase “who did you f^ck to get here?” would take on a whole new meaning.

Tell me about it. I’ve been having to beat off (no pun intended) all the ladies who are just swooning to get some of this.

I think the prostitution industry suffers from marketing myophia.

They are a part of entertainment industry, just like holly wood.

Legalizing prostitution would probably decrease exploitation. If legal prostitution centers existed and women could legally and voluntarily enroll for jobs in these establishments, there would be no reason to kidnap foreign people to force them into prostitution. Furthermore, these legal businesses can be regulated and certified, making them safer and justifying a higher cost to customers.

Service would also improve. If prostitution became legal, this would enable industry training and certification, similar to CFA but for prostitutes. Legal prostitutes could enroll in a class that would teach them the latest proven techniques in pleasing their customers. Online reviews such as Yelp could further reward prostitutes who provide the best service.

However, the incidence of marital cheating would almost certainly increase. If prostitution became legal, it would become more popular. Wives would certainly be upset to find that more husbands are patronizing these places. This would have implications on family stability.

Furthermore, what sort of disclosures and tests would have to be required of prostitutes and their customers? Should customers be tested for STDs? Would these customers then need to carry a certification and how often should this be renewed?

rahul, how are you going to cite these sources? Will you have a slide that says “References: higgmond on AF, ohai on AF…”?
