Interesting you say that hardware is going to be a commodity because Google’s model is based on making software a commodity. Since Android is open source, it’s possible that Samsung could have access to the same network effects like Android apps…unless Google somehow shuts it off.
There is no reason Samsung would experience a network effect precisely because Android is open: many companies can create hardware and the software experience to the end user is roughly the same. Samsung could continue to dominate hardware for Android, but I am betting that, like Dell, fierce competition will erode market share/margins.
Also, open is not the same as commoditization: they are all using Android. Commoditization is when brands are indistinguishable to end consumers. For example, buying an HP at $480 instead of a Dell at $500 because the consumer makes no distinction between the two products.
BTW, anybody see that Samsung issued debt at a rate below that of the Korean government?

Back on the first page. Over the next 10 years, Frankie thought TEVA would show better EPS growth than Apple. I took him up on the wager and even gave him odds. If this was kids softball, I’d have won by the mercy rule by now. As it is, I’ll just have to wait another five years to officially call it.
We didn’t exactly bet anything, so five years from now when I claim victory over him, I’m going to find him and make him post here admitting defeat.
