So how did you find the exam?

And also a lot of time to “configurate” the grading machine with different specified “right answers” depending on the candidate

totally doable to do L2 in a month, i couldn`t but someone with above average IQ and strong memory can ace the L2 in a month.

In theory it would be a sound strategy to make at least 3-4 versions of the test. This would reduce the risk of people peeping correct answers from the people around them. It would also reduce the risk of sharing correct answers between exam takers in different time zones. Since the answer sheet is part of the exam book it would not pose a technical difficulty to read the number on the answer sheet to find out the version number on the exam.

Again this is just speculations based on how i myself would have prepared a multiple choice exam. It would also make it easy to investigate cheating in a potential investigation. If one had copied answers from other candidates it could be detected by answers looking random in context with answer alternatives.

I also found funny to read (like for level 1) that they have a detector of electronic devices (they know it from the US ? ), detector which does not work 10 minutes before the exam  .

I came out of the exam feeling it was quite different from the mocks and topic tests I had been doing.

A bunch of questions seemed way too easy – making me think I was missing something (and maybe I was).

Then there were a bunch of questions that probably would have been easy, except I had never even seen those topics before (granted, I didn’t read the book).

And then topics that would have been a bit more involved time-wise and showed up a bunch in the mocks / TTs seemed not to have shown up on the exam at all, so I finished both sessions with about an hour to spare, but did not feel very confident about my answers at all.

Yea - if you’re not working and/or not going to school, and you’re eating/sleeping/breathing the exam materials for 1 month. I’d 100% end up in a looney bin if I had to do that. The guy I shared the ride with on my way home from the exam said he studied 20 hours/day for the last 6 weeks. He was a full-time grad student (and Chinese, for what it’s worth).

As far as i’m concerned, I need at least 6 hours of sleep per night  (but 12 hours one day per week to catch up in this case!)

Same here Lobo, only way I pass is if I get 85-90% of FRA and EQ sets right… Feel like I knew enough to pass, but disappointed about leaving some points on the table… agonizing to say the least… “Oh the pain”, as Dr Smith would say on Lost in Space.

This is the most reassuring thing I’ve heard since the exam. I hope you were getting 80+ on your mocks.

My experience (1st time level 2 taker/ certified FRM) was overall positive but not 100% assuring. Its becoming even less assuring as memory is fading:)

In the AM session, i was hit by Quant and wasted a 20 minutes in doing just three questions. Rest was fine except Derivatives. I thought I was good in it and was wishing that more sets should come from Derivatives. The problem was I attempted it in last 12-15 minutes and therefore panicked. Apart from these 2 (Quant and Deri), CF, FI, Economics,Ethics, Equity, FRA etc was fine.

In the PM session, I found myself in a better position as I nailed Quant at the beginning itself. Others were good to very good i.e. (4-5 and sometimes 6 in a set). HOWEVER, again Derivatives was the villain as i forgot some basic formulae otherwise PM Deri would have been satisfactory.

Overall,

Ethics, Quant, Portfolio, FRA were good.

CF, FI , AIM , Economics , Equity were very good

Derivatives is the only sore point.

Worst Case scenario-75 marks

Neutral scenario-80 marks

Positive scenario-more than 85

Hope to pass as individually I believe that questions were framed in a way that getting 4 out of 6 in a set (consistently or on an average) was not an easy task and required a depth and range of topic knowledge. There was also a natural trade-off as reaching 5/6 from 4 rights was really tough and came at the cost of time (before exam prep as well as during the exam) meant to be devoted equally to all sections.

My final take is 66% should be an assuring score as pass percentage is above 40%.

Band 5 retaker. Overall better than last year, but that’s not difficult with the low band i had last year.

Wasn’t doing great on Schweser mocks and CFA mock - could not get above 65% except for one 70% outlier. CFA topic tests went fine though. Not much confidence going in with low mock scores tho.

AM fine. I thought I got all the answers easily enough, likely missed some tricks.

PM not great. Ethics was tough, overall got pretty tired/drained by the end.

Usually review my exams over but just could not do it this year. Was confident enough in each question before moving on to the next (knew I would have the time to complete the exam (see below), to be sure on each question before moving on).

40 mins remaining for each session - have always been a fast test taker - went back with my time to try to plug in numbers on the calc to try to get one seemingly simple derivatives question in the PM session to no avail.

Won’t be shocked if i pass, won’t be shocked if I fail.

First time taker (But I hold FRM designation). Barely was able to finish AM, PM did 20 mins before time, too lazy to review my answers to just waited till time finished (I regret this, but din’t have any strength left or willingness). However, I had to make lot of guesses. Let’s see what’s in store. All the best folks.

Is it a bad or good hangover? i don’t even know.

You probably have studied for 9 months straight! what are you doing to reward yourself?

Good luck on your level 2~

NANA

In one month???

That’s still very impressive… one month full time studying or working at the same time though…?

I think level 2 is hard even for people who already work in finance because there are so much accounting and economics and other things you wouldn’t normally know or use in real life.

BEST OF LUCK to you~

NANA

One month full studying (otherwise clearly no chance to succeed !).

And actually had more comfort on accounting and economics than on derivatives or Alternative investments

That’s okay, derivatives and alternative investments are small sections in L2.

And even if you randomly guess you can still be right 1/4 of the questions.

Band 8 retaker. At first I thought like many here that the AM was easier than PM but the more I’ve thought about it, not so sure that’s true as I had about the same amount of time remaining at the end of each half. Didn’t think anything was tricky per se but there were definitely a few questions that had me stumped and so had to make an educated guess. I think I did well though but we’ll see at the end of July!

was it Econ?

first time sitting level 2. like most i thought ethics was a nightmare. some of the ethics q’s may as well have come from a different syllabus. the rest of it was reasonable but i cant say with any confidence that i passed or failed.

im a little comforted that others found ethics tricky

good luck everyone

Did anybody get 3 Cs on economics or more?
